Email and LJ are like porn for procrastinators. No, better than porn. CRACK. It's all about the heavy stuff in this household. I actually did not write anything last night because I was busy with MM stuff and family event planning stuff, and I'm much busier tonight but I was feeling a little resentful about being too busy to write for myself and so here I am, kvetching just like always, killing time in such a way as to make me very mean-spirited tomorrow night when I have loads of stuff to get done but who cares about tomorrow when there are random posts tonight? Like Carrie, I considered heavily shifting forward the launch date because it is just major chaos behind the scenes this month. But.. frankly, I'm ready to stop worrying about it.. sooner done, sooner forgotten. (Especially since I have Monday and Tuesday off.)
Oooh! Listening to random songs* and the theme song from The Tenth Kingdom just came on. It is both a great song (albeit short and froofy) and it makes me remember that we haven't seen that movie in a very long time. I'm thinking that we'll have to do that on an upcoming weekend. Anyway, the song is already over so it would be silly to keep writing about it even if I could think of anything else to say, which I can't. Short attention span what?
*Actually, in this case, random songs refers to a directory of songs that have been compiled for burning. The sad thing is that it was been compiled since 2002 and I still haven't burnt it, and alas, now I'm tired of most of the songs on it.. at least as far as creating a CD of them goes. It really isn't my fault, though. It was all ready to go and I gave it a trial listen. After half an hour, M and I were both moping around, contemplating self-mutilation and the worthlessness of existence, so I decided that perhaps my penchant for sad songs should be constrained to the MP3 collection. You know. To prevent catastrophe. For the good of the people.
The Tatting Guild at work has morphed today into the Knitting Guild. First break saw some of the members off to WalMart to pick up supplies, and me off at lunch to pick up mine at home. Then we had a lesson in the afternoon. I can kind of knit already.. at least, I can both knit and purl but that's where I lose some crucial points. Like.. what do I do with this mad knitting and purling? So I'm a little ahead of the other three pupils but I'm hoping I can get past that part where I throw it down in disgust without making a single thing. We'll see how that goes.
My husband gave me a Dork Gadget the other night, which I dutifully took to work. It's this swoopy digital desk calculator/calendar/alarm clock/world time thing in silver and blue. I'm pretty good at adding six hours to find Swedish time, but I'm hopeless for, say, figuring out what time
courtesy is in. But guess what?! It has a SYD button, and so I've amused myself for the last two days figuring out what time it is in Australia (2:47 am, tomorrow. At least it was at some point today when I checked.) I'm not entirely sure the degree of accuracy because I don't know how it handles, for example, daylight savings time, but it's still fun. Are you concerned that I am stalking
courtesy since I care so much about what time it is for her at any given moment? Yes? Well, if I were you, I would probably find it more alarming that I have been entertaining myself with this feature for two days. Chew on that one for a while.

Date: 2005-01-14 10:38 am (UTC)Good luck on the MM deadline. It sounds really very stressful, but I think all deadlines are like that. I guess the interruption of The Holiday Season puts a spanner in the works. People find it hard to get kick started again after the silly season.

Date: 2005-01-18 01:35 am (UTC)It is quite the handy little gadget, my world time clock. Well, it would be, if I could think of a use for it besides stalking Kirsty. I can help you explain time zones to them, though.. :)
