It got late again. Man, I hate it when it does that. Seems to happen every darned day. But at least this time, there's only one more day between now and happy weekendness.

I'm exhausted but happy. I started cleaning as soon as I got home from work, and made a good dent in the pigsty in which we live. It was pretty bad. I didn't have time for a good deep-cleaning before we left for Sweden, and oddly enough, the gnomes didn't come do it while we were gone. After we got back, we had a lot of crap to do and also, a lot of new crap without permanent locations, so stuff has been stacked everywhere. I know that I must have hung clothes this afternoon for sixteen hours. I hate putting away laundry. And I'm not a big fan of cleaning the bathroom, either, but I was beginning to get depressed every time I went in there.

I can't believe I'm writing on the internet about how I was beginning to feel that my bathroom was a public safety hazard. I should have more style than that.

There is currently a brand-new Toyota Corolla sitting outside our door--we finally made ourselves send the Buick off to service because of the wonky ignition. (I think I've mentioned it before, but sometimes my car thinks I'm a security risk that it's not willing to take. So, it takes about three or four minutes to think about whether or not it should start or whether it should leave me stranded in the WalMart parking lot today. We have come up with a bunch of different tricks to minimize its occurance, but it seems like they wear out pretty soon, and it starts happening again anyway. Very frustrating when you're, for instance, on your 30 minute lunch break and it happens three times in a row, leaving you stranded in a hot vehicle for twelve minutes and making you late for work.) Naturally, it refused to show off this behavior to the guys at the shop, but they're looking for the culprit now. And, until then, the husband is driving a rental that we are paying out the wazoo for. I hate spending money on vehicles. M suggested that we simply have a skewed idea of what owning a vehicle costs, because frankly, I don't think you should be required to pay anything after gas and insurance. Service, shmervice. We've paid for all our vehicles upfront so far, and none of them cost a whole heaping lot, relatively speaking. I would like to have a new car, but the thought of paying $300 a month, plus upgrading our insurance.. it turns my stomach a bit. One of these days.

Oh, yeah, I should add that it hasn't taken us nine months to have this repaired because I don't think you should have to pay for car repairs. It's just extremely inconvenient for us to have the cars in the shop right now, since M works 30 miles from here and is gone from 7 am until 7 pm. That means that I get stuck doing pretty much all of the errands, which is inconvenient on many levels because I don't actually like doing errands, whereas M doesn't mind them. And, in this case, I know nothing about cars and in fact, openly requested that I be involved as little as possible. I felt vaguely guilty about that but not so much. So, we ended up taking it to a place in Lexington instead of here in Frankfort, and that way, M can handle it completely. He's so good to me. Really, he is. Tonight, he had a disgusting meal rather than let me cook him any of three things I suggested making for him because I had said earlier that I picked up a sandwich on the way home because I didn't feel like cooking. He said that if I didn't want to cook for myself, I shouldn't have to cook for him, either.

I ordered something from Amazon on Tuesday night and I received it by noon today. That's with free shipping. Really neat.

Anyway, I have two more things I need to get done before I go to bed, and I'm already sleepy, so I should get going on them. But one more thing before I go..

Dear Makers of Grand Theft Auto:

You are scum, and probably do not deserve to live. I do not expect to see my husband again for the next three weeks. Thanks a lot.

Sincerely,
K
