Sunday Night.
Jul. 10th, 2005 10:58 pmMy parents are at the beach with my niece. I am not with them, which makes me more than a little sad. I really, really wanted to go. This is where I resent the hell out of being sick so much this spring. We have the money, we have the plan, but I don't have the time. More than a little frustrating. I talked to them a little while ago. They had arrived earlier and walked down to the beach. Whitley was so excited she jumped in with her clothes on. *giggle* It started as wading, and Mom had told her that she should try not to get wet. So she was wading, and then one pants leg got wet, and then the other, and then her waist, and then her shirt, and then she gave up. I could have been there to see her first time at the ocean excitement. But yet, I'm not. My husband is being very, very sweet about the whole thing. He's coming up with all sorts of suggestions for places we can go next weekend.. places that aren't ten hours away by car. Strangely, he probably could swing the vacation time, so this not getting to go thing is totally about me, and my job. Bah. Being a responsible grown-up sucks sometimes.
In other news, we got a phone call this afternoon that said our custom framing order was ready, so we spontaneously headed to Lexington to pick it up. It looks pretty nice, and I'm so glad that we have it done. I have a list of things that I mean to take pictures of and post here, and maybe when I do that I'll get around to taking pictures of it. It's a painting of a tree, with names and dates of M's ancestors from the 1600s. It's kind of cool, actually.. it's dated 1933, so M's grandfather is on it but not any farther than that. M doesn't really remember a lot of details, but he believes that his great-grandfather had it made, and then his grandfather had an unknown number of copies made. M's uncle has the original, and we were given this one when we got married. Apparently, it was set aside for M by his grandfather, or maybe his parents. He didn't know about it, though. Well, he knew of its existence since his parents have a copy in their living room and all that, but he didn't know he was getting one.
I'm not sure there's anything else going on. I didn't leave the house at all yesterday, which was nice. I won't be doing much tomorrow, either, since I don't have a car. Mine is at the shop. It has some sort of leak. The guy we took it to (the same one who fixed M's air conditioner and was just so nice about it) says he fixed that same ignition problem we have on another '97 Riviera back in February, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that he can fix ours, too. Because it would be really excellent to not wonder whether or not your car is going to start when you head out for lunch. Or head anywhere, actually, but it's most annoying at lunch, or in the morning when you have a time factor.
