You may be aware that I am a major fan of the Opera browser. I've used it since version 3.2--I have 28 separate install files from previous versions in my downloads folder. I have, however, tempered my remarks on the subject somewhat because Opera, unlike its competitors, is not a free product. UNTIL NOW. The licensing fees have now been completely removed. This made my nerdy heart go pitter-patter. It is so, so much better than crappy Internet Explorer. Like Firefox? Yeah, me too, it's alright. I even use it for a couple of things. But basically everything that makes it neat? Stolen from Opera, who did it first. Switching browsers is an investment in your internet experience. There really is a reason people talk about IE sucking. Opera is the fastest browser, it's standards-compliant and it's extremely customizable. (I think that can be a little intimidating, but if you put a little time into figure out what the options are and how you prefer your browser, it makes everything so much nicer.) And if nothing else, ditch Internet Explorer. IE is ruining the internet. I could go into that in more specific detail but I won't. At least not right now. Anyway, I'm just excited about the freeness of what could be my favorite piece of software, ever.

Speaking of software, I would like to state here that I cannot make heads or tails of LJ's styles/themes/layouts. I earn a respectable living as a programmer, and I can't even figure out where to start with advanced customization of livejournal. Doesn't that seem weird? Especially since they refer to it as if it's an excellent system? Perhaps it's just the documentation that is dismally bad but it always gives me a headache when i look at it so I tend to give up on it. (No need to point me to resources, I'm bored with it by now.) Maybe I just have a mental block... but then again, everyone seems to have stock layouts so maybe I'm not the only one.

As for news from beyond the internet.. M made me giggle earlier. I suggested throwing the sheets into the washer today. He's working until after midnight, so he was home until after lunch. He agreed, but then turned to me, a concerned expression on his face, and said, "But can you put the sheets back on by yourself? Because I won't be here to help." Oh, you darling boy, I love you. Yes, I can probably manage making the bed, but thank you very much for asking. I do like it when you help, and doing it by yourself is even nicer, but I think I can handle the responsibility. :) See, that's why I love being married--I am married to someone who is so much nicer to me than I deserve.

What is with the heartburn today anyway? I think I should probably go take some tums or something, and then I'd better get going. It's nearly bedtime, and I really need to get going on those sheets.
