(no subject)

Am I not a computer geek? Why am I having such a hard time with this stupid thing this time around? I know I posted about it being all better, but shortly thereafter things took a downward curve and now, with every successive day that I work on it, it gets worse. Like, at first it was just a little quirky. The next day it started with the black screen on boot and the excessive sluggishness when trying to open any window. (Like, a full minute to wait after clicking on Device Manager, whereby the entire computer would freeze while it tried to decide if I was worthy of it getting off its rump to do what I said.) Tonight I was determined to fix it and even went through the bother of reinstalling again and reconfiguring and it's still doing it. Only now! Now I don't have a mouse anymore. We have some ideas as to what the problem is, but when one only gets a limited amount of time per day to troubleshoot, it's kind of hard to make much progress.

It's also really hard to successfully use Windows when one doesn't have a mouse, and there is more work to be done, so I should get going while I still have the boy's attention, as we believe it is hardware related and as I've said, he's the one that does hardware stuff.
