We packed the first boxes tonight. I really want to keep at the packing so we don't end up scrambling to get it done.. last time we moved was horrible, horrible for that kind of thing since we only had a week's notice, and part of that involved cleaning the apartment. My head is swarming with details right now, and I have no less than three different lists and half the stuff that needs done hasn't yet made it onto paper, and most of that never will. At this point all the packing still feels entirely overwhelming, hopefully that will go away as it gets closer to time to get going.

We went to Sears tonight to look for a fridge. Mission failed. The problem was that there were two refridgerators that we could buy. Same brand, same approximate price. One of them was a discontinued floor model, and a much better refrigerator, but it was black, and not all that pretty. The other was just your basic model, but available in white. All other appliances in the kitchen are white. So we choked on the indecision--appearance over quality? Or vice versa? And then we left. It didn't have to be done today, anyway.

The only other thing that made my day out of the ordinary was that I was half an hour late for work. You know what really sucks about that? The reason I was half an hour late was that I couldn't get into my car. The doors were totally frozen shut.. I couldn't even get my key all the way into the lock on the driver's side. I had gotten up early this morning and was outside at 7:20. It took me an entire hour to get that damned door open. You know what finally worked? M's aunt and uncle gave us a wheat belt thing (you microwave it and use it for a heating pad) so I went and put that in the microwave, stuck it in a plastic bag and then went out to hold the stupid thing on the door. Thought it was somewhat ingenious, actually. Still, I was on schedule to be at work at 7:30 and didn't make it until 8:30, that sucked. Yay winter. On the bright but weird side, it's supposed to be almost sixty tomorrow.
