left-handed house
Feb. 7th, 2006 09:41 pmWe live in a left-handed house. Although M is of the opinion that the left-handeders are attempting to take over the world, one kitchen at a time, I doubt that there was any insidious intent involved. However, the fact remains that the cabinets and closet doors open the wrong way in this house. It's so weird. I've been saying that for days but no one ever listened to me until M suddenly realized that the hinges were on the wrong side of a cabinet. This is most inconvenient at the stove, really, as you are standing there with absolutely no work space to your left and only one section of counter to your right. It's so awkward. I'm sure I'll get used to it but right now I am really not enjoying it. There's just nowhere to PUT stuff.
Last night, I sustained a massive injury to my foot. You know, massive. Like, a splinter from the hardwood floor. Okay, so it wasn't exactly massive but I need the drama, okay? Anyway, I didn't see anything but I could feel (and see) it this morning when I got out of the shower. It took me all day, but I finally got it out this evening. I hate splinters.
I feel like I should have more stuff to say but my mind is kind of blank. We're still unpacking.. we have a long way to go yet but we do have most of the truly necessary things in place now. The bad part is that we're left with all those things that need to be done but we don't have an urgent need for. And if we don't have an urgent need for it... well, I think you know what THAT means. The one thing that I do have an urgent need for, however, is sleep. I don't quite think I've caught up on the weekend yet.
