We live in a left-handed house. Although M is of the opinion that the left-handeders are attempting to take over the world, one kitchen at a time, I doubt that there was any insidious intent involved. However, the fact remains that the cabinets and closet doors open the wrong way in this house. It's so weird. I've been saying that for days but no one ever listened to me until M suddenly realized that the hinges were on the wrong side of a cabinet. This is most inconvenient at the stove, really, as you are standing there with absolutely no work space to your left and only one section of counter to your right. It's so awkward. I'm sure I'll get used to it but right now I am really not enjoying it. There's just nowhere to PUT stuff.

Last night, I sustained a massive injury to my foot. You know, massive. Like, a splinter from the hardwood floor. Okay, so it wasn't exactly massive but I need the drama, okay? Anyway, I didn't see anything but I could feel (and see) it this morning when I got out of the shower. It took me all day, but I finally got it out this evening. I hate splinters.

I feel like I should have more stuff to say but my mind is kind of blank. We're still unpacking.. we have a long way to go yet but we do have most of the truly necessary things in place now. The bad part is that we're left with all those things that need to be done but we don't have an urgent need for. And if we don't have an urgent need for it... well, I think you know what THAT means. The one thing that I do have an urgent need for, however, is sleep. I don't quite think I've caught up on the weekend yet.

I did think of you when we had this conversation last night. It's just the sort of nefarious plan that you would come up with.

That sounds like a good project for about a week's vacation sometime, or something. Or a very long drawn out project over time. :) Remove the cabinet doors, sand the places down where the hinges were, and redo them. Also a fun time to go pick out pretty hinges. You'd never know how many there are until you stand in the hardware aisle of Lowe's or Home Depot trying to match them to one you broke. On second thought...replacing the cabinets would probably be much easier than all the tedious work of reversing the doors. It would drive me nuts until I did something about it, though. Mine open in sets, so they open to each side, so I guess they're abidextrious (no idea how to spell that!).

Get some rest...otherwise, it will catch up with you at the least opportune moment, and you'll be exhausted.
