I was just looking at my Cingular (cell phone company) bill, which always contains a dozen shiny advertisements for whatever worthless feature they're trying to push that month. Is it just me, or is "During NCAA March Madness every second counts" a horrible, horrible ad for a phone company to make? We KNOW that every second counts.. much as usual, you make sure that you don't give away a single second without charging for it. We get it, alright?

Yesterday was indeed a very long day, but it was a lot of fun. Except for that whole up-at-five thing. Didn't care for that. I was at my parents house by eight, with their computer, which I've had here for ages with the intent of fixing. I spent part of the morning helping them with their very own internet access! I'm so excited. Well, I'd be more excited if I thought they'd use it but I think Dad just wants to be able to check out ebay now and then. Even if they don't, it'll be pretty handy when we spend the night.

After lunch, I left town to pick up the boy from his awful, awful job, and then we went over to visit with J&A. It occurred to me yesterday that J might actually read this, since I sent her the link, so I guess that I can't actually say all those awful things about her like I had planned. Ha! Kidding, J. :) Actually, I think J is perfectly delightful, especially when she gets all nerdy and pulls out USB devices from her purse. This happened at dinner a long time ago and it comes up now in a joking fashion as I may have told her she was really hot as a result. *laugh* Anyway. We kind of forgot to take the map so we got a tiny bit lost and saw cows and a truck theft, but we finally made it there (in an area that is nowhere near an area in which we should have seen livestock) and had a lovely afternoon. J also had made semlor, so I can now say that I tried it.. this year, it occurred to me that it was a little weird that I hadn't, after all this time. We also looked at their very nice house, which included the scariest laundry chute that I've ever seen, and then we adjourned to our house, forty minutes away. We went out to dinner afterwards and ended up staying there annoying the wait staff until ten, which was actually none too bright since M had to get up early this morning to go to work. Time flies when you're having fun, though. :)

It was kind of funny because we both kept pointing out all the things that were wrong with our respective houses. Isn't that warped? It wasn't "Oh, look at our beautiful SUNROOM! Isn't it PRETTY?" or "Look, we have a really nice finished basement!".. no, it was more like "Check out the horrible rustic beams! Aren't they awful??" and "We have no idea why there's a hole in the bathroom wall. Pretty, huh?" But, that's the joy of buying a house that isn't new! The worse it is now, the better it will look in comparison later on. I still think it's funny that we ended up buying a house at the same time, especially since we had been looking at houses for over a year, off and on.

M is off at the moment to the local redneck hangout, a run-down gas station a mile or two up the road. The road we live on is kind of out in the country (there are also cows in our neighborhood) which is one reason we liked it. It's totally fake because we're five minutes from the big big road where all the stores are, which is another reason we like it. He went even though he knows that he will stink of cigarette smoke all evening, and his jacket will smell for days, and all because I need milk for my breakfast tomorrow. He's nifty.
