This has been an excellent weekend. M and I have been both productive and slothful, and we have thoroughly enjoyed having a little time together.

Last night, we were out until after one--an event that does not often happen to us homebodies. The annual business meeting of the Scandinavian club was last night, and M was officially elected as the vice-president of said organization. His wife also agreed (again) to create a website for the club because we are badly, badly in need of one. You know how we ended up going to these things? M had an awful job at a computer sales and service place that catered to businesses. He went out to one of the horse farms on a business visit, and the person he talked to just so happened to be the godson of one of the members of long-standing, and he just so happened to mention the society when he found out M is Swedish. He, at M's request, called his godmother, who gave him the phone number to the club's president, and then he called M later at work to give him the number. M called the president and talked to him, and we were invited to an event. After we had heard the first rumor of its existence, we did comprehensive internet searches for it and couldn't find a single trace of it online. It was so completely random, and it has basically zero publicity, and that's a club that's been in existence almost as long as I have. I am looking forward to there being a site, and I have been having web-project withdrawal for the last year or so. I have several different web things going on right now, so I should have my project urgings satisfied for a while now.

Anyway, back to yesterday. After the meeting ended at nine, we went over to J&A's house to play Rook. The superior players (J and me) whipped some boy butt twice in a row. I had to laugh at the end because they started drawing grids and plotting scores and curves to demonstrate their prowess (or lack thereof). Did I ever mention that they're both engineer-types? *laugh* And then there was calamity, as we headed into the living room and there was an overturned bucket of lime paint leaking on their carpet. ERGH! The guys discovered it, and so I had no idea what the deal was and was terrified that M had accidentally kicked it over when they headed into the room, but it was laying like that when they entered the room at the same time. We both felt bad anyway because the paint was sitting in the living room because of us to begin with--we really liked the color they painted one room and asked what it was called, so they went to get it. It seemed to be coming up.. I hope it did.

Today, we finally ripped down the last of the wallpaper in the bedroom. We have some more stray little bits to go, plus the closet. No, we're still not planning on ripping the painted-over wallpaper in there, but we do have to remove all the clothes and take the doors off in order to pull the rest of the outside paper off. We've been procrastinating like mad on the wallpaper job for the last week or two (spring is here! who wants to work on wallpaper?!) so it's good to have made some more progress. Later, we went outside and did almost three hours of yardwork, which is very much hard work. I am actually seeing how someone could enjoy it, though. As a matter of fact, I had a nice time. Kinda. Except when I raked some leaves out of the way and uncovered some tiny, glistening white eggs of some sort in a pile. Then I got really creeped out, and forced myself to continue working in the area for a little while solely for character-building, and then I got out of the gardening gig for the day and cleaned off the back porch. Yuck. Eggs, insects and reptiles are NOT what I am into.
