You know how some people are just really talented at writing wonderful things inside cards? And then there are those who are just talented at being a friend, in general? Lucky me, I have a friend who is BOTH at the same time! I just received the sweetest, loveliest birthday card all the way from France today. Note how it arrived on my actual birthday! This, after said friend complained more than once about the belated birthday card. In advance! For a card that arrived on time! So, thanks and huggles and happy warm thoughts go to [livejournal.com profile] courtesy, who always knows just what to say. Seriously. I melted in a pile of warm goo. If I were male, and single, I would totally be after her now. Maybe I would go to a psychic who would say I was going to end up with a blonde chick from abroad and we would live happily ever after! (Sorry, K1. That one just struck my fancy.)

But that's not all the niceness! My boy bought me a present even though I refused to tell him anything I wanted, thus ensuring a supply of birthday money in my near future. The present? Look!

icky destructor dust buster

Are you thinking he bought me a dust buster/cordless miniature vacuum? You would be so, so wrong! Because, look a little closer--he bought me the ICKYDESTRUCTOR 2000! See, it's right there on the body! (We call spiders "ickies" around here.) We have one, but it loses power pretty much instantly. I've been meaning to buy a new battery for it to see if that helped, but now I have a new one, a BETTER one! Isn't it cute? He modded my dust buster! (Also, yes, that is my famous to-do list in the background. Erm, two to-do lists, both with sub-lists. Hi, I'm obsessive, how are you?)

The boy will be home in another hour or two and we'll be heading out for a nice dinner. Then, the current weekend plans are to spend Saturday shopping like mad, eating lovely food, and then we'll be going to Mammoth Caves on Sunday. Unless we change our minds. That's the nice thing about having flexible plans.. you can change them without a qualm! So, there are the birthday plans. I fully intend that the boy will spoil me rotten this weekend. I mean, you only turn 27 once!

Speaking of my age. A few days ago, we stopped at Kroger, and we went through the self-checkout line. M forgot about his beer under the cart until he had already started to pay, and then he had to get the cashier to come over to approve the credit card, which was taking forever, so I just grabbed his beer and went to the empty line next to us. Meanwhile, I had to show my ID, and so I went to talk to said cashier, who basically said that I was way too young to buy beer or hang out with M, and if he was ("still"?) a cop he would bring M in for his underage girlfriend. I then showed him my ID and laughed politely. As we were leaving, he stopped us to let me know that he was just kidding, but he would have just assumed I was just with my dad. My dad! HAHA! M is five years older than me. He doesn't look nearly old enough to be my dad, no matter how young I look! It's crazy!

(M, though, was less amused.)

Also, I would like to add that I have really, really, really appreciated all the birthday wishes. So many of you have posted and said happy birthday, plus I've gotten emails and phone calls and face-to-face happy wishes, and.. well, it has meant a lot, especially since I was feeling so.. flawed.. last night. You DO like me! ;) And I like you all.
