Lately, I have been sneaking out of work during my afternoon break to visit a produce market. I don't know why I am making this sound so clandestine. The store is so close to my job that it could be measured in inches. If I were to exaggerate. Slightly. Well, technically, any location in the world can be measured in inches but it would probably be confusing. It is also conveniently located very near my bank, which is good because I am going to the bank every six minutes lately. How can you not offer direct deposit in 2006? M's job doesn't. They also like to pay by the week. So, the produce market is small but pretty well-stocked, and I like the idea of shopping at a produce market for obvious reasons. And besides that, I have finally found a place that has new potatoes in stock, as last year I left the freakin' state to buy them. Buying food in Frankfort sucks. And don't get me started on the exotic groceries like rice in this town. (That last link made me laugh when I found it just now for linkage. Sometimes I am funny, or at least I make myself laugh, and that is good enough.)

Anyway, besides being happy to have new potatoes again, and besides the enjoyment of supporting a local produce business, today's shopping trip was amusing for another reason. I totally swapped fruit market war stories with the guy behind the counter. He yawned as I was approaching the counter, and said something about it having been a long day. Next thing you know, we are talking about where we went to "pick up" (Huntington) when we had the produce market, and where they go (Louisville). Small talk is still not one of my strengths, but I am getting much better lately.

It's amazing how much good being well-rested can do you. Last night, I laid down with my head in M's lap so he could play with my hair (I am SO generous). Then he kept pestering me to get up. Isn't that mean? Just because I fell asleep at 7:30, and it was 9:30 before I got up! And yet, I didn't have much trouble going back to sleep an hour later. But today was much less horrible than it could have been. I do love getting enough sleep.

My first love is back on daytime as of this week. Patch (Steve) has returned to Days of our Lives after something like sixteen years away. Sixteen years! I should not even be sixteen yet, and yet I remember watching him on TV. Can you believe that someone could actually return to any job after sixteen years, much less a television show? I can't help but laugh now, because he totally has M's beard. No wonder I loved him! And looking at his website, apparently he was the voice of IKEA recently in some of their commercials. IKEA = Swedish! SERENDIPITY. Only, M has both of his eyes! That's even better!
