We got off to a good start today, but sometime in the afternoon, I curled up on the couch in the sunroom and took a nap. For two hours. After that, the day was pretty much shot for me, as I have been in Zombie mode ever since. Generally speaking, I don't handle naps gracefully. It always sounds like such a great idea at the time, but no. Just, no. But M finished cleaning the garage, which was good!
The sunroom is a really, really nice room, and just perfect for a mid-afternoon nap. It's not very pretty.. yet.. but it's nice. The day after we moved the couch out there, I had a bout of moodiness and headache. At that point, I was wondering pretty seriously whether or not I liked the new setup. Anyway, I took a cool wet washrag out for my forehead and laid down on the couch for just a few short minutes (had things to do, couldn't stay long). When you can't see the actual ground, our backyard is fantastic. You know how nice it is to lay down outside and stare up through the leaves of the trees? That's pretty much the effect you get out there now. The leaves flutter about, causing the shade to dance and wave. The windows themselves frame the whole thing, and instead of ruining the view, the squeaky clean windowpanes add a certain sparkle that doesn't exist in nature itself. And lying there in a perfectly quiet house watching the rustle of leaves and the birds and the sun... it was just very lovely.
Of course, the room itself has God-awful "rustic" wooden beams, wood paneling that's been painted over in an anorexic shade of blue, stained white carpet, a really ugly door and three windows (to the inside of the house) still framed from when the sunroom addition was made. Also, nothing in there matches.. not the room or each other. It's been the dumping ground for all furniture we can't place. We cannot wait to get out there and install a light laminate wood floor, install drywall and paint everything a sunny yellow color, all trimmed in white. Of course, M's bookcase won't match then... might have to replace it too. ;) It's the biggest project we've got planned, except perhaps for the bathroom, but we're so looking forward to it.
Or perhaps I should say.. we're so looking forward to it being done.
