We finished the bedroom!
Photographic Evidence That I Will Now Stop Talking About the Bedroom

We finished the bedroom! You can see a before picture to the right here... click to see it larger.

We originally had plans for Saturday night, but when they canceled, we decided that it was high time we finished up the bedroom walls. It all sounded so manageable, but of course it turned into more time than we expected. This is mainly because as a solution to the peeling paint thing, M decided that he would re-paint those areas, and then I would paint the trim freehand (because taping was clearly a bad idea.) This sounded like a fabulous plan--and I suppose that it was because it did work. But have you ever tried painting baseboards and windows with a tiny artist's brush? While sitting cross-legged on hardwood floors? Yeah. Not so much on the fun. Or the speedy. I worked on that for hours and hours (like, six or seven) yesterday, while M got to scrub various primers, paints and spackles off the floor. (Also not fun.)

When all that was left was painting the ceiling--it is odd both that we left that for last, and also that we umm.. forgot to buy paint for the ceiling and just barely had "enough" to do it left over from the last paint job--we took a break for dinner. I poked around in cabinets for a minute before dragging my weary bones out to the couch to say, "can't we just go to Arby's or something?" So we had a little fast food break. We were the only ones eating in the dining room, and we pretty much wolfed our food down in an attempt to get the hell out of there due to Creepy Woman. I feel a little bad about calling her that because she was clearly not quite there, but sane or not, she was totally creepy. She walked around the very small dining area in circles for several minutes before finally sitting down in a booth just behind us. She had a drink but no food. She was totally talking to herself. Out loud. And she was answering. You know how they say that it's okay if you talk to yourself as long as you don't answer? Yeah. She was looking through her wallet, talking about all the cards that she had with her. She has a card here, or there, and that one isn't even good anymore and that one used to be blue but they changed it. It was so creepy that I finally started babbling in an effort to not start laughing. It's not that I found it funny, but it was just so uncomfortable.

We didn't move the bed back in until tonight. We normally have been sleeping pretty well in the dining room, but last night completely sucked. The A/C flipped its breaker, so at 2:30, we woke up sweating. Actually, I think I woke us up because I was moaning (in a bad way) about something. No idea what that was about, which is really just as well. I was awake off and on the rest of the night, even after it cooled down. So I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed, in my own room, that much more. Oh, but I'm so glad for this infernal bedroom project to be over. And yes, it was totally worth it.
