happy sunday
Dec. 9th, 2007 04:45 pmM had to go do a SHSK/Lucia thing this afternon. In other years, I would have just gone with him, but I didn't feel like dragging the baby out for something that we would both be bored at, so I am home with Evelyn. Also, I was afraid that if we went, we would get roped into participating, and I am just not a joiner. I am SO GLAD that I stayed home. She cried for twenty minutes just as he left because she was exhausted--for no known reason, as she slept ten hours last night, woke up and then took a nap--and she has been asleep for three hours. I have been working almost the entire time, doing all those things that never get done because I am either too tired or too lazy or I don't have enough time. I have wrapped all the Christmas presents that I have so far! And stripped microfiber towels*! And folded two loads of laundry! And picked up toys and put things away and filed stacks and stacks of papers! I am in an organizational mode lately. I haven't had a chance to DO much about this organization, but I'm excited about it nonetheless.
I pulled the playpen out of storage yesterday and carried it in to the computer room. Evelyn likes to play on the floor with her toys, so I wanted her to have a place in here so I could maybe occasionally check my email while sitting down during the day. I sat her down in it and she looked up at me and started sobbing like her little heart was broken. "I. DO. NOT. LIKE. BABY. PRISON. GET. ME. OUT. RIGHT. NOW. YOU. MEAN. PEOPLE. OR. I. AM. GOING. TO. TELL. GRANNY." She is a really easy-going baby most of the time and she has so far liked just about everything we have given her (except bananas) so it was really funny that baby prison made her cry. She sat in it without wailing today for a few minutes but she was not thrilled with it. Is it terrible that we laughed and laughed because she cried?
In other baby news, she has started saying "dag dag dag dag dag" all the time. M has started calling himself DagDag in an attempt to convince me that she is talking about him. PTHB. He will not think it is so funny when she is explaining to her friends in twenty years why she calls her father DagDag. Seriously, she does say "da da" sometimes and sometimes I really think she is talking about him but I will not admit that even if I am certain because I GAVE HER LIFE and THEY CUT ME OPEN and I think that deserves some acknowledgment. Say MOMMY, you little brat. MOMMY.
I have no idea what's up with the caps today. It's just that sort of day.
*Microfiber towels, like from the automotive department, are great to use in diapers. When they're new, though, they are full of all sorts of chemicals and dyes and stuff from the manufacturing process. Not only is it somewhat icky to think of that crap being near my baby, but it also decreases absorption. So, M now has a wife who brings towels home and boils them before washing them . You should see the sludge that's in the water after boiling, by the way. Yuck.
