I broke my own standards of parenting this week in order to let my child touch stuff during Christmas. (I did NOT let her play with dirty thongs, even though perhaps I may have indicated such in a previous post.) Wrapping paper and toys and people, as long as she kept it out of her mouth. So, guess who has a runny nose with sneezing? Great. I explained this to M yesterday morning in hopes that he would point out that it is ridiculous to blame myself, but the boy pretty much agreed with me that that is why she is sickly now. He was supposed to soothe my crazy! Hmph. So far, she doesn't seem to be really sick, just bordering on it. I'm hoping it will stay that way. I can't keep her from touching stuff forever, I suppose.

I am feeling a little "meh" today. Overworked. I am determined not to start the new year with a dirty house, but it's so hard to keep up with everything when you have a baby that requires so much attention. I made a lot of progress this afternoon, but there's plenty more to go. I also have an entire cloth diaper stash to sew because we have baby butt crack showing in almost all of her diapers now. I think she has an abnormally high rise for her size... though what do I know, she's the only kid to whom I've ever paid much attention to such details before. Not that anyone believes that stay-at-home-moms do anything besides eat bon-bons and watch Oprah. Excuse me, but I watch Ellen, not Oprah! *sigh* I don't watch Ellen religiously but I do leave it on in the background sometimes, and I have had several conversations that included the words, "I saw on Ellen where..." M, on the other hand, gets his news from a massive forum for gun enthusiasts, or in other words, at a right-wing redneck convention. We think that we sort of balance out because Ellen is sort of the exact opposite of everything his forum stands for. (He has to keep track of it for work, if you're wondering. Or concerned.)

The baby has spent the entire day waving at herself. She loves doing that. It is so so sweet. She spent an entire car ride yesterday fake-coughing and then laughing at how funny she was. She is so much fun! She slept terribly last night, though, and I'm afraid she'll do the exact same thing tonight, so I suppose I'd better go get some sleep while I can. I think that's part of what affected my mood today.
