I took five pictures of my haircut today, using the bathroom mirror, and none of them turned out. I asked M's opinion and he let me know that I was making a really funny face in the best one, and the bathroom mirror looked too disgusting to post. So, you get all four--I deleted one because I wasn't even IN the shot from the way I was holding the camera. Ooops. Things to note: the mirror looks bad because E likes to stand up there and bang on it. It's not really as nasty as it looks, I promise. Also, I put her on my back myself, which is a HUGE step. It's the first time I've gotten her on there really well by myself. I peeled potatoes and carrots with her like that, and it was awesome. Forgive both the quality (gifs are just like that) and the black border at the top of one of them.. I was lazy and dumb when I cropped it. And... without further ado...

I had been running around all day so it's not perfectly fixed, and it looks nothing like it did that first day, but I like it a lot. When I don't straighten it, it's all tousled and curlyish, which is a nice look too. I am definitely still liking it.
M forgot his phone at home this morning, so I volunteered to bring it to him and have lunch with him. I fear he will be forgetting it twice a week from now on. :) He works 25 minutes away from here, so between baby and gas prices, I rarely make the trip to have lunch with him. It had been a while, though, so I thought it would be fun, and it was. We also stopped at the park on the way home, and Miss Evie got to play for a few minutes, which she liked. I am noticing that the playground really has some characters. Last time we were there, we saw a guy actively playing with his kids and having a good time. FIRST TIME EVER. Apparently, the playground is where you take your kids so you can ignore them. The first time we went, we were pushing Evelyn in the swing next to Madamoiselle Apathy, who was pushing her daughter, about E's age but half the size, in the swing without even looking at her. While smoking. (Actually, we didn't take Evelyn over until she put out the cigaratte, but she WAS smoking earlier.) The little girl was picking at a cheeseburger. It looked bizarre. Anyway, we were excited and laughing at Evie because she really loves the swings, especially that first time, but I was feeling self-conscious about it since everyone else was just looking bored and certainly they weren't playing with the kids they were chaperoning. After the woman finally took her extremely bored cheeseburger-eating baby away, I told M how it was making me feel self-conscious, and he said that he refused to let anyone make him feel bad because we are better parents than they are. *laugh* That made me laugh because in the online Mommy world, you learn to never make judgements on anyone else's parenting skills, so I would NEVER have said something like that, but he couldn't care less what anyone else thought. Boys are cool sometimes. So anyway. I am sure that I will enjoy letting her run freely when she's a little bigger, but I still don't understand them not watching their children at all. That first time we were there, I actually physically carried another child back to the playground
from the parking lot, because he had totally wandered off. We had been watching him the whole time, because he was maybe fourteen months old, barely walking, and no one gave a damn where he was at. I seriously hesitate to touch someone else's kid but I wasn't about to let him get run over.
Well, that was random.
Doesn't it look like eventually I would learn that sweeping the kitchen floor and then removing the child from the high chair is the WRONG order to do it? Also, dorko baby discovered the pots and pans cabinet today. My life may never be the same. OH! And she may or may not have taken her first step today. She let go and stepped away from the bookcase today, and the plopped down. I'm not sure it counts but it sure is a good sign. She still refuses to stand on her own, which seriously hinders her progress, for some reason.
We have a wedding to go to tomorrow morning at 10:30 (isn't that a weird time for a wedding?) and I'm supposed to be getting our stuff ready for that, so I'd better get going. Busy day tomorrow, and I'm kind of sleepy.
