May. 28th, 2008 04:46 pmEvelyn is sitting in the living room floor with one of M's shirts over her head. The girl loves to play with laundry. M thinks it's because she wants to be like Mommy, and Mommy plays with laundry. It's terribly cute because she is so totally working when she's doing it. It isn't a game. She seems like she is feeling better today. YAY! Grumpy babies make for grumpy mommies.
Guess what waddled into my yard this morning! A... turkey! At least I think it was a turkey. It was certainly not a bluejay. We live on the edge of town, sure, but I still wouldn't expect wild turkeys to amble into the yard. Last summer, I had cows in my driveway so I don't know why I'm surprised.
Did I mention how great I am at multi-tasking? Last week, I vacuumed the house, wearing my kiddo on my back, and while I did that, I checked my email as I vacuumed past. I was AWESOME. ;) It sucked, really, but it sounds good. I am not really that great at multi-tasking at the parenting job. I think I need a more baby-proofed house, or be calmer about what she gets into.
One of the best things about having a girl is that the clothes are awesome. It's especially great because my mom loves to buy baby clothes, and we have hand-me-downs from her older cousins. It's funny because the hand-me-downs come from two different cousins, both of whom have different tastes in baby clothes as me, or my mom. Mom and I mesh pretty well, which is great, although she does like a few things that I don't care for. Most of the hand-me-downs are perfectly normal children's clothes, but every now and then I get a real doozy. All of this is to say... today, Evelyn is wearing a hoochie-mama outfit given to her by one of those cousins. It's really great because the fabric is classic wholesome (pink, orange, green and blue cotton, with a butterfly applique, and matching striped shorts) but the cut is somehow sort of trashy, with thin straps that cross in the back. I can only imagine that it's something about how it fits her that wasn't intentional. I have a real problem with "sexy" kids clothes but I don't mind her wearing it at home this once, but it does strike me as so wrong.
