It makes me laugh when Ev is so excited about playing by herself. She has anti-social tendencies like her mother sometimes. I put her in the crib and play Swedish kids CDs for her sometimes, and put a toy in for her. I did it this morning to have a minute to go to the bathroom, but when I came back, she was having such a good time that I decided to check on the internets. It's been pretty active and intense here, I think, so she is probably enjoying the opportunity to chill this morning.

M and Kina left early this morning to go hiking at Natural Bridge. I would have liked to go but my back isn't up for it and neither is my baby. The hope is that they will be walking before it gets too hot. It will also mean that theoretically they'll be home early enough to do something else with the day. We've been having fun so far. We went to where my parents were camping, which was the Kentucky Horse Park. (Not a bad place to take a visitor!) on Saturday, where we ate a lot of fantastic food, poked around the park and went swimming. Sunday, M and Kina went to Mammoth Caves, and yesterday, we poked around downtown and went on a tour of a tiny candy factory (so cute!) before coming home to put E down for her nap. The Swedes did a bit of shopping during naptime, and when they got back, we went to a little fun park and played miniature golf. This place is like, a quarter of the mile from my house. We have lived in this house for over two years, and had never been. We were surprised to find that it was really nice! It looks like the place is falling down from the road. I lost, though. BAH. :)

Evelyn and Kina are getting along well, too. E broke the ice the first night, after 'flirting' with her for a long time in hopes that K would pick her up on her own, by finally crawling up in her lap and sitting down. ;) Silly baby! Evelyn looks at her and laughs out loud. So cute. :) She was only four months when M's parents were here, and she's fourteen months now, so it's really a completely different child that she is meeting than the ones their parents met. I wish that she was geographically closer to her daddy's side of the family so that it wasn't just about the rare visits. We did buy a webcam (though we haven't set it up yet) and I hope that will help.

My back is feeling some better. Last night M rubbed my back while I was laying in the floor (is it awful that we have taught Evelyn to come over and beat on my back for a massage? It's hilarious.) and then started pulling at my feet, and I *think* that he might have fixed/improved the root of the problem. It's more sore today than yesterday, though, but it feels more sore than broken at last, so I have hopes that it's healing now. DIY chiropractic! I should find a chiro here, I guess. Preferably one who won't send me an outrageous nonsense bill four years after my last visit, like my last one did.

Oh, and happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] geeklibrarian! :) Hope it's a good one. :)
