Nov. 9th, 2009 10:48 pmSo, Evelyn made it two and a half years before we had to take her to the doctor for a sick visit, and she did indeed require antibiotics for her raging ear infections (both ears). That was a week and a half ago, on a Friday. The next Friday at 2:30, I ended up calling in for the second time because of the red dots popping up all over her belly and arms and legs. She'd had a few for a couple of days that we were watching, but they suddenly got really red, angry and were spreading on Friday, so I figured that I'd better call fast before I lost my chance for the weekend. So, second visit in one week... figures. And... guess who is allergic to her antibiotic! Yes, indeed. Of all the bad luck. He said that she could very well grow out of it but he would probably not want to give it to her again for at least a year. Her ears were looking okay so he just said to stop giving it to her. The next morning, she woke up and she was absolutely covered in little red dots. It reminded me of the time I broke out from an antibiotic reaction.. over four years ago by now. Face, hands, feet, legs, arms and a complete covering across stomach and back. She looked pitiful.... but she was feeling mostly fine so we took her shopping. No one actually SAID anything but you could tell people were looking at her like OMG IS SHE CONTAGIOUS? And, they are lucky that they did not say this out loud because my husband is quite large and extremely protective of his little sugar muffin.
(Don't worry, I just made up "sugar muffin" as an endearment just now, and he does not actually call her that.)
I took pictures but they really do not do it justice so I'm not going to bother posting one.
The good news is that spots finally started fading today, and they seem to itch a lot less than yesterday. And, she is finally acting unsick and is back to her old mostly cheerful self. It's been a rough couple of weeks because she's just been cranky cranky.
M called his parents this morning basically to let them know that the forecast for today said highs near 70 again. He is a mean, mean boy. ;) I am loving the weather, though I guess I haven't really taken advantage of it much today. Yesterday we were out raking leaves, though, which was semi-ridiculous. We have a gazillion trees. There was really just no chance of finishing. Impossible task. We worked for an hour or two and MAYBE finished a third of the front yard. The back yard is bigger than the front and the sides probably are too (together, anyway.) Ahh well. We need to just mow it and chop all the leaves up and stuff, but the mower broke down again.
I am really excited about the holidays this year. I've already gotten a lot of my Christmas shopping done and I'm looking forward to the baking and the wrapping and the decorating. M even put the lights up on the house yesterday...which is inappropriately early, I know, but it was just a good time to actually DO it since the weather was so nice. We're not turning them on yet, don't worry.
This post is boring even me so I think I'll go to bed instead.
