Nov. 5th, 2009 09:52 pmMy child walked up to me today and said, "Mommy, take off my freaking shirt." I am so proud.
We are having a serious case of the grouchies this week. Evie is cranky because of the time change and the being of Daddy's girl whilst he is at work and the recovering from illness and the 2.5-year-old-ness and whatever else is going around in her brain. I am cranky because one gets tired of people yelling NO every time you ask them to do something, like eat their favorite food or come along with you for fun and games. Even better, she does not particularly want my attention, and in fact, she gets peeved with me when I try to play with her. Playing usually is a NICE thing to do but not so much at the moment. Naturally, she does not want me to direct my attention elsewhere during this time, though.
I have a nasty sore throat. I am really hoping that it is PMS and not swine flu or something. Did I ever mention that? I often get sick as a PMS symptom. I mean, achey tired sneezy sore throat tired sick. I don't think I have ever heard of anyone else that does that and in fact, I would probably tell someone else that they were crazy if they said that they got physically ill, but it has happened to me a LOT--I will be gearing up for a nasty sickness and then boom... as soon as Aunt Flo arrives, I am, within hours, no longer sick. No one ever catches it from me, either, so it doesn't seem to just be a coincidence. Weird, huh?
Do you remember the series of books that I was reading a few weeks ago that prompted me to say that I needed some steamy werewolf sex to happen? Yeah. I am reading the second half of the series now. It's still good, don't get me wrong, but did you know that if you add aplot device plot twist that turns our previously conservative heroine (not gonna have sex again until married!) into a total raging vampiric nympo, there will be suddenly be entire books where nine out of ten pages make steamy werewolf sex seem positively MUNDANE? I mean, I just wanted her to have the sex with her werewolf boyfriend (while in human form!). This is... I have never read anything quite like this. M and I were discussing recently that vampire novelists seem to have this strong tendency to go absolutely freaking insane after a few books. I wonder why this is? I am not a true vampire genre junkie, this series and Anne Rice being my main exposure, but still, that means it holds true in 100% of the cases I am aware of! ;) (There's a third by Mick Farren but you haven't heard of it so I didn't mention it...however, the rule applies there too.) It is fairly refreshing to actually read something NEW and DIFFERENT... even if it did sort of end up being preternatural erotica more than anything else.
I am so looking forward to Christmas this year. E is SO excited and that is making ME so excited. She understood only very little last year but this year is a whole different story.
Also, I have the Sid the Science Kid theme song stuck in my head. It is obnoxious.
