My child walked up to me today and said, "Mommy, take off my freaking shirt." I am so proud.

We are having a serious case of the grouchies this week. Evie is cranky because of the time change and the being of Daddy's girl whilst he is at work and the recovering from illness and the 2.5-year-old-ness and whatever else is going around in her brain. I am cranky because one gets tired of people yelling NO every time you ask them to do something, like eat their favorite food or come along with you for fun and games. Even better, she does not particularly want my attention, and in fact, she gets peeved with me when I try to play with her. Playing usually is a NICE thing to do but not so much at the moment. Naturally, she does not want me to direct my attention elsewhere during this time, though.

I have a nasty sore throat. I am really hoping that it is PMS and not swine flu or something. Did I ever mention that? I often get sick as a PMS symptom. I mean, achey tired sneezy sore throat tired sick. I don't think I have ever heard of anyone else that does that and in fact, I would probably tell someone else that they were crazy if they said that they got physically ill, but it has happened to me a LOT--I will be gearing up for a nasty sickness and then boom... as soon as Aunt Flo arrives, I am, within hours, no longer sick. No one ever catches it from me, either, so it doesn't seem to just be a coincidence. Weird, huh?

Do you remember the series of books that I was reading a few weeks ago that prompted me to say that I needed some steamy werewolf sex to happen? Yeah. I am reading the second half of the series now. It's still good, don't get me wrong, but did you know that if you add a plot device plot twist that turns our previously conservative heroine (not gonna have sex again until married!) into a total raging vampiric nympo, there will be suddenly be entire books where nine out of ten pages make steamy werewolf sex seem positively MUNDANE? I mean, I just wanted her to have the sex with her werewolf boyfriend (while in human form!). This is... I have never read anything quite like this. M and I were discussing recently that vampire novelists seem to have this strong tendency to go absolutely freaking insane after a few books. I wonder why this is? I am not a true vampire genre junkie, this series and Anne Rice being my main exposure, but still, that means it holds true in 100% of the cases I am aware of! ;) (There's a third by Mick Farren but you haven't heard of it so I didn't mention it...however, the rule applies there too.) It is fairly refreshing to actually read something NEW and DIFFERENT... even if it did sort of end up being preternatural erotica more than anything else.

I am so looking forward to Christmas this year. E is SO excited and that is making ME so excited. She understood only very little last year but this year is a whole different story.

Also, I have the Sid the Science Kid theme song stuck in my head. It is obnoxious.

Speaking of reading, how is the new WoT book coming along?

*lol* I was going to ask this, since I Mike has been asking me if you are reading it!

That is so weird about getting sick as PMS. I've never heard of that before.

Sounds like a really rough week, except for all that crazy vampire sex.

haha. I have been meaning to ask him about WoT too. I am not reading it yet, but planning to start when I get though with my preternatural porn books.. just two more after the one I'm reading now, I think.

Darn it, Carrie, you guys are running late this year! I have become accustomed to having you come visit at this time of year. *tease* Just kidding. I do enjoy getting to see you all but it is so our turn to make that drive and I don't see M agreeing to a road trip since he has no useable vacation days for the foreseeable future (spending them on the holiday thing) anyway. That doesn't stop me from giving you a hard time though. :)

I keep thinking about coming and visiting you guys! I've been nostaligic b/c of halloween and the swiper costume, but then i flipped over to november on my calendar and the pictures were of evie and erik on the log in your backyard!

my shift button is not working, but it worked for the ! mark. i don't understand. oh. wait. i get it. i used the shift button on the other side of the keyboard. how annoying.

Anyway, mike has a ton of vacation time but he can't take any of it because they expect him to work. bah! i would love to come out and see you guys are have you come out here. this real world working thing sucks. i would say maybe we can try in the spring but i think i will be too large with child.

I'm not reading it yet. I *think* what I'm going to do is skip the re-read this time and try to find one of those summaries of previous books online and read through that and then the book, and the same thing for the next one, and save my re-read for the last book. As much as I like my re-reads, I just don't have it in me to do three back to back like this because I don't have as much time to read as I used to and the last time I did it, it took me a ridiculously long time. Any good summary recs? I think I will probably read it after I get through the last couple of books in this series.

Have you read it yet? What do you think? I have been meaning to ask you. I saw that the Amazon reviews are pretty positive and one guy said it was the best WoT book in fifteen years.

There's a short summary on Dragonmount, I think. It's very brief, just summarizing what the major characters were up to at the end of KoD.

Oh yes, I've read it. It's pretty darn good. Some of the characters are a bit off, but generally it feels like WoT. And a LOT happens. I only know two people who didn't like the book, so it seems to have been generally well received.

I do hope that Sid the Science Kid song has left your head. Anders is a fan of Sid but I am not. He only gets to watch it if he's home sick though, since it's on when he's usually at daycare, so I have a hard time saying no on those off days.

I love Christmas but I really, really wish that retailers could just WAIT for a couple of weeks because, man, is it hard to reign in a child's enthusiasm when they see all this crap NOW and then are told the day is nearly two months away. Argh.

It totally is. I'm very sorry for you.
Wait till you have to memorize and sing the Scooby Doo theme song nightly so someone can fall asleep. ;^)
