My child just peeled a grape with.. her teeth? Fingers? I don't know, but it makes me happy.. I don't know why. She has gotten in the habit of grabbing snacks out of the fridge, which is... usually okay. There are a number of snacks that she can eat successfully in the living room, and some that I restrict to the kitchen. We almost always have a big bowl full of cleaned grapes on the top shelf, so she will casually go retrieve it and bring it to the living room. She loves grapes. Anyway, I looked over to check on her and she was holding a GREEN grape. Ha! It never occured to me that she would think to do that, or that she would have the dexterity to do it. Now that I think about it, it isn't that hard. I just never thought of her doing it. She's peeling all of them now. I guess it's the right time of year to experment with eating eyeballs, after all. :)

Speaking of eyeballs.. I sort of hate this time of year, and do you know why? Because stores, they DECORATE. For Halloween. Evie is pretty... well, she's a scaredy-cat. (I just stopped writing to try to sell Evie on the idea of dressing up as a scaredy-cat for Halloween. No go. She wants to be Tinkerbell still... just as well because I already have the costume, thank you Kohl's.) She has some anxieties, my girl. We went to the zoo last week and she was mildly afraid of the orangutan (in her defense, there was something vaguely creepy about this particular one. He came right up to the glass and checked out all of the kids one by one, as if window-shopping for pedophilia. Would it also be considered bestiality if the animal is the one trolling? In any case, we at least sorta saw her point.) but when we got to the gorillas, she was so upset that we had to just skip the entire exhibit. I'm not sure how well she even saw them. She was freaked out by the NET. Yes, the net. There was an oversized rope net hanging around the place in that safari sort of way, and it freaked her out big time. And... is it awful that we think her deepest fears are cute and funny? I mean, we don't laugh at her when she's afraid or anything but maybe we are laughing on the inside. Because... nets? And in the past, balloons and Thomas the Train and public bathrooms and loud noises--by which I mean the hum of the central heater, at one point? And her deepest, most serious fear of someone being left behind, or separated, that caused a major panic when we let her watch part of Home Alone 2... well, that one isn't funny because she still gets upset over that sort of thing fairly often. But NETS? REALLY?

--- line break to signal hours passing ---

Guess where we are in our bathroom project? Pretty much where we were last time I mentioned it! We are... without a bathroom. In our defense, we have had some extenuating circumstances, but the core of the problem is that our child is such a Daddy's girl that when he's home, she can't allow him to leave her sight. After she goes to bed... well, turns out that bathroom renovations are kind of noisy. So, M is still plugging along, as possible, but right now the walls (destroyed by tile) are still being repaired. I think after that's done, we'll be able to make progress again. In the meantime, I am keeping myself busy trying to restore the rest of the house to a semblance or normal, what with using the tiny guest bathroom and Evie sleeping in the wrong room and still not being fully organized from the LAST project we did.

Also, I am watching the series, Coupling, on the Netflix. The British version. It's so funny, and I am enjoying it, but I am also enjoying the PROGRESS of getting something done. I am working on season three of four so clearly I am getting some important work done. Gonna be crossing that way off my to-do list. It's the little things that are important.. :)
