Sneaky

I have today off because I have to work on my next flex day (Monday). I could have taken any day, but I wanted to see how it felt to have a Friday for once (I could chose Mondays or Fridays, so it's nice to have a reference point) and also, I have a doctor appointment so I am very responsibly taking no extra leave time for it even though I could have. I like Mondays off because then I have an extra day tacked on to the end of the weekend and I can therefore have a day to recover from the weekend before making it back to work. I don't know how Fridays will work out for me but I do know this--I felt so deliciously sneaky when I ignored the alarm clock this morning and rolled over for another hour of sleep. So now I'm sitting here, writing this, when I really should be getting my butt in gear to make it there on time. Probably should have gotten up after all. ;)

At the summer job I worked in high school, we worked nine-hour days instead of eight, and we got every other Friday off. I don't know if that's similar to what you do, but I really loved it!

That's close to what we do.. the days are normally 7.5 hours, but we always work eight (just taking half an hour off of lunch) and then we work extra on the weeks we have the day off. It's sooo nice. It makes it a little hard to even imagine having to work every single day. ;)

Fridays off are great. I have every other Friday off, since I have to spend a couple of hours at work the night between Thursday and Friday maneuvering. It does mean disrupted sleep for one night and a tired Friday Mikey, but just the fact that the weekend is loooonger is so, so nice. Enjoy!

Just a couple of hours at work? That sounds pretty neat. Well, also sucky to have to work in the middle of the night, but still.

When I worked for a big publishing company in Manhattan, we had summer hours. We worked an extra 45 minutes a day from Monday through Thursday, then everyone took off at noon on Friday. You still had to get up and go in in the morning but that half day went by so quickly that it was worth it.

Sounds pretty nice. That's kind of what we do only we also take thirty minutes less for lunch every day. And if I'm going to have a half day of work, I definitely want it in the morning.

Whatever day is off, it's still great to not be at work.

I hope that it being your day off from work that you had a chance to work on your pink knitted thong...

... I mean heart-shaped pillow. By the way, can you take a picture of the pillow and post it? I was hoping that I would get to see it at work today since you are giving it to your niece this weekend!

I'm really really REALLY annoyed with that pillow. I am considering tossing every bit of it in the trash, or at least in the "I hate this and never want to see it again" pile. I don't think I've ever hated anything that I've made as much as this &(#&*@@)(! pillow. Maybe I should just go ahead and turn it into a thong after all.

(Guess who finished the second half last night and found a giant hole? And then guess who keeps unraveling it more and more every time she tries to fix it? And also, guess who gave up on the second side and stitched the first to a piece of fabric with the plan of adding another fabric back? AND guess whose sewing machine dies every time she tries to actually execute that plan?)

*sigh*

Maybe I'll just buy her some chocolate.. ;)
