The most beautiful thing about the internet is that it occasionally affords you the rare gift of feeling pride in someone with whom you have never spoken. I found this extremely moving. I hope you do, too.
Somehow, I'm always reminded of these things around my birthday, because it seems that every year, I happen across something on the subject as I'm checking email or reading LJ on April 20th. Odd how that happens, especially since the things are rarely written on that exact date, but somehow I happen to read them then. All I have to say is, this song says it best.
"God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in her shoes Cause then you really might know what it's like to have to choose"
God bless, keep, and heal those who have had the misfortune to be forced to make such a difficult choice, and may those who have find peace and self forgiveness...and most importantly, a friend who truly understands.
