When I was little, my parents would sometimes want to go to an auction, and thus, drag my brother and me along for the ride. This was never appreciated, to put it mildly, for there was nothing more heinous than sitting still for three hours listening to some old, sweaty man do the bid calling. There was never anything we wanted to buy, and rarely did my parents buy anything, either, so it was all basically a torture episode. We were old enough that we could be trusted to go off to sit in the car by ourselves now and then, which was better than the alternative, but still.. there's only so long that the radio can entertain you. Anyway, when we learned where we were going, we would always try to talk them out of it and insinuate that taking us to the auction was punishment, and thus, the auction joke was born: "Please don't make us go! we've been good!" And the point of all this is to point out, once again, that my husband's taste in music is beyond questionable. Right now, he seems to be sorting through (and hopefully deleting) all of his oldest, most unusual crap that he never listens to because even he doesn't really like it. And I, I just feel like wailing... "But I've been good!"

Yesterday I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time at home getting stuff done because I had to go to Lexington to the hospital. Not for myself, but my uncle was having heart surgery, and showing up at things like that is rather what my family does, so, since I didn't have to work I figured that I should. They were fixing a flaw that caused his heart to go into little spells where it beat really really fast. They found the problem and fixed it, and there's basically a 95% chance of it being an actual cure, and he can stop with the medicine and all that. Anyway, I did leave soon after he was settled in his room because otherwise I couldn't have gone to work today--I had absolutely no clean clothes. We become total slobs over the weekends sometimes.

I came up with An Idea today out of the blue, and we're kind of excited now, but I'm not really ready to write about it yet.. need to wait to see if it'll work out. Hopefully, we'll know something more within a day or two, because we have to do some research on a couple of things. Don't you hate it when people say things like that? Doesn't it make you want to reach through the monitor and strangle them? :)

Also of excitement, and disappointment, is the birthday present situation. M went off to buy me a laptop during his lunch break today, but they were sold out. :( Actually, they sold the last one--the demo--while he was standing there waiting for the woman to get out of the way so he could look at it. So, that pretty much sucked, especially since it's not available for purchasing online (CompUSA). So, no birthday present for me tomorrow, which makes us both feel sad. Oh, well. It's hard to feel much like it's my birthday when I'm off to work as usual. We'll probably do more celebrating this weekend than we do tomorrow anyway. :) I'm not too hard to please. As long as there are no crisises this year, we'll be fine. I used to be known for having horrible birthdays. Things have gotten a lot better in recent years, though. Thank goodness.

Happy Birthday!!

26 is great! So I've been told. Once I realise it, my 27th will be around the corner.

And I hastily clicked Post Comment...

May you spend the day doing what you love, eating good food and laughing with loved ones. :-)

Happy birthday! I'm sure with M around it will be a great birthday week, even if you didn't get your laptop.

And now I must reach through the monitor and strangle you b/c I want to know what your idea is.

Yes.

Doesn't it make you want to reach through the monitor and strangle them? :)

You bet!

But grattis på födelsedagen anyway. Did M sing Med En Enkel Tulipan for you?

Tack. :) I didn't get that song, but I did get "Ja, må hon leva". Well, actually, he did sing the tulip song, too, but only after I asked him about it.
