Here's a question for you. Do you, when you see a person of the opposite (or same) sex, immediately pass judgment as to whether or not they're hot? Because I don't. I don't even think of it. I hardly ever think of stuff like that, unless they have put themselves out there as sex symbols, in which case they're fair game. (M just rolls his eyes when I lust after Eomer by now.) Someone I know does this. It just interested me because I markedly don't do this. I wondered if it was me or him or if it was a gender thing. No idea. I probably shouldn't have given my opinion straight off if I wanted an honest answer. Oh, well. Not like this is exactly a scientific survey or anything.

M is reinstalling his computer. During the installation process, it stopped for several minutes on "Registering Components". He read it as "Registering Complaints" and thought, So that's why it's taking so long! He's a nerd but I love him.

Two days down, two to go. *sigh* I am so, so tired.

I don't regularly notice things like that unless the person is particularly good looking or particularly ugly. I tend to notice the appearance of women more than men, probably due to my own insecurities.

I'm like you, Carrie. I tend to notice women more than men, and I DO attribute it to my own insecurities.

As far as men go, I look, but my first judgement is always trying to guess their age rather than their hotness level. I wonder why I do that.

i'm like you. unless they are looking to be noticed, i pretty much don't notice how they look (unless they are totally hot and delicious). i would occasionally think about this as i walked down the street, looking at guys, but realised that even when i'm pointedly looking at guys, i'm not rating them.

I used to, I don't anymore. I just don't care anymore, lol. I've met too many "hot" people who turned out to be jerks. So now I look at someone and think absolutely nothing.

Wait - is it really possible to think absolutely nothing? *ponders this*

It comes and goes (the looking and judging on hotness). Spring is the worst (for the looking) -- and being bisexual, everyone is fair game. But I rarely if ever comment out loud. That's just not done in polite society! ;-)

I don't notice unless there's something extreme about a person.. extremely built, extremely dressed, something like that. And I guess I have to qualify 'hot'.. for someone to be a sex object takes no personality, just looks. I might see a healthy young shirtless guy and think "hey baby" but I wouldn't presume anything about personality. By far, I meet someone (or watch their work on TV, to be honest) and like their personality and THEN go "mmm, hot." So, no. :) Usually.

Nope, I don't either. If I saw a really attractive guy I'd notice it but I can bet you 100 bucks it wouldn't be someone other people found attractive and it would be most likely after having a conversation with him and him having made me laugh etc but it's very rare. I just don't think about it on a day to day basis and I also am not very looks oriented, although I do seem to end up with more dark haired men than light haired :)

I don't unless, as someone else noted, the person is exceptional in one direction or the other. On the other hand, I dated a guy who practically got whiplash every time an attractive woman walked because he turned so quickly to take a good long look.
