On a whim this afternoon, I decided it was time for the Big Reinstall I've been planning on doing for ages--not just reinstalling the operating system but also repartitioning and reformatting of one of the drives. So I started the backup, and when I was almost done... Windows broke. The rest of the evening has been spent reinstalling the stupid thing so I could hobble along on it long enough to copy the stuff I couldn't live without over to M's computer in the insane hope that I lose as little stuff as possible. But, now it's ready to go, and I am posting this brief note because I don't much see it being finished before bedtime. I am so glad I have tomorrow off. I can't help but wonder, though... what are the odds that my computer would break while getting ready to reinstall?

Given Murphy's Law in cases like this? The odds are quite high :(

Good luck, I hope it goes more smoothly from here on out!

Thanks. :) I actually don't think I'm going to lose anything, or not much. (How do people live without gigantic hard drives and home networks?!) And right now everything is going.. well, it's almost excellent except for a hair-ripping-out large-hard-drive issue that has consumed most of my day and prevented me from getting everything else done and the software reinstalled. But.. what can you expect from Windows?
