monday night

I am mostly out of my earlier funk. I did have a pretty terrible day off, as far as days off go. If it can go wrong, it pretty much did. I finally took to my bed in the afternoon to pretend that the world wasn't actually out to get me, and then my boy finally got home, bringing me a weed (long story) to cheer me up and later some ice cream, which finished up the cheering. Also, I fixed a dinner that used up two boxes of stuffing, all but two of our frozen chicken breasts--which was on purpose because technically I didn't use enough chicken in the casserole--two cans of soup and one can of mushrooms and the last of a box of instant mashed potatoes, and incidentally, tasted good. This is much more of a box-box-can meal than I usually make, but it's something we occasionally have on Sundays at my grandfather's house and M likes it. I am, if it's not perfectly obvious, actively trying to eat stuff from the cupboards and freezer and refrigerator so we have less to pack, so tonight's dinner was a major victory on that front. Basically, everything that gets cooked much pass rigorous requirements relating to how much stuff it gets out of the cabinets, compared to other meals. It's kind of a fun game to play sometimes, although it can get tricky. And hungry.
Now I just wish that it was a little more Friday evening and a little less Monday night, but I guess I don't actually have the power of shifting time, and if I did, it would be totally dangerous anyway because I would probably miss a good deal of my life that way. Think it's time to lure the boy away from Dumb Computer Game and off to bed, where we will probably dream about strange house-related events such as attending the church next door and breaking up a feud that had gone on for years (M) or discovering that our house had a ghost named Amelia with the hots for M (me, duh.) The waiting is doing horrible things to our sleep. ;)
