Did you know that raking, although it looks easy and fun, actually sucks and is hard work? Because I do. Now. Our yard, it is buried under years of neglect, and today it was nearly 70 degrees and sunny (approximately the first sunny Saturday of the year) and so we were out in the yard, working. We did a lot of stuff, but we didn't finish, naturally. We will never finish. But it still is looking so much better.

Speaking of things that will never be done, I spent the rest of the evening sorting books. This is a thankless job which is normally my cup of tea, but I am not enjoying it much this time because it feels somewhat temporary, given how awful the bookcases look in their current locations. I am strongly considering getting rid of a bunch of my books. I have a lot of them that I know I'll never read again, so might as well pass them on. Too bad that the list of books that I can't stand parting with keeps getting longer, though.

In theory, I would like to have posted today. In practicality, I got nothin'. Nice weekend.

When we bought our house ago, the yard was a disaster as well. It's taken four years to get it truly cleaned up (there was ivy everywhere, choking off everything). This is the year I hope to start planting things.

And, yes, raking is the pits.
