memorial day.
May. 29th, 2006 09:31 pmI guess it's predictable. But yet, here it is, the close of a long weekend, and I am here solely to post about how I don't want it to be over. Yay for predictability! Is it a virtue, maybe?
Okay, I am officially a Veronica Mars addict. I have watched four episodes today, and it would have been more if I hadn't been trying to be productive. Let's just assume that I have them "on dvd", and am using the dvd drive of the laptop for viewing purposes. I'm halfway through the first season, and I have been curled up on the couch for most of those. Sounds cozy, doesn't it? Only, not so much. Or rather, it's a little too cozy and my lap is getting a bit toasty. But it's better than watching them sitting in a real chair anyway.
In other news.. there isn't that much going on. The stars aligned and I finally got a chance to get the pantry redesigned. It came with this wire shelf thing, and you could pull out all the shelves. This looked so practical, but in fact was completely inefficient. We found three shelves to fit the cabinet in the basement, though, so I decided to put them in. This was one of those projects with a bunch of little components that never got done, for some reason. It involved bringing (or having brought) the shelves up from the basement, cleaning them, putting shelf paper on them, and then there were the widgets. You know, the little blippy peg things that hold the shelves up. Anyway, I've only been planning on doing this for a couple of months now. Ahem. Anyway, I have now done enough (with a few other changes) that I felt okay with crossing "kitchen organization" off my to-do list. Technically it really isn't done, but the rest should be small potatoes.
I like small potatoes. Too bad I live in the desolate land of stupid grocery stores, all of which lack beautiful produce, here in our commonwealth's capitol.
Speaking of produce, my parents were talking about watermelons yesterday, and my mom said that she was thinking of going across town to another market that reportedly had sweet, juicy watermelons. My dad laughed and said, "you wouldn't go buy something from the people who ran us out of business, would you?" (They did not, incidentally, run my parents out of business.. it was a joke. The produce business just sucks.) And I said, "that's WHY she wants to buy something from them. She's HAPPY they ran you out of business!"
You know what? That story was totally not funny unless you were there. Oops.
