The walls are painted, the molding is up and painted, the ceiling is painted and the furniture is back in place--or actually, in different, better places. I had intended to put before and after pictures here, but we still have some junk to put away and we don't have time tonight because it's already past our bedtime. We didn't start painting molding until after nine! We were leaning towards waiting until tomorrow but I decided that there was a definite risk that I won't be able to lift my arms over my head for that long tomorrow so it would be better to get it done with tonight. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'm looking forward to going to work tomorrow to rest, but I am rather looking forward to wearing clothes that aren't streaked with paint...

p.s. This room belonged to at least one of the daughters of the former owners. The walls were apparently painted an obnoxious pink color in here with a revolting hot pink trim on the windows--I believe I have made reference to how badly the former occupants of this house painted.. a good part of that time I spent on the floor was scraping up paint from their remodeling projects, not ours. So.. with that in mind.. does it disturb anyone else that the lock on this door is in the hallway and not inside the room? Why was it necessary to be able to lock the door from the outside? Questions to ponder...

Hahahaha! I can so relate. When I moved in here, everything had a nice neutral new coat of paint. I didn't put anything up on the walls for years because it all looked So. Good.

Anyhow, good job you two! Looking forward to the pix :)

Ha! That sounds like us. It's so funny because the bare walls in the rest of the house look so... well.. bare. But in the new room it just looks fabulous. I guess we'll probably hang up some stuff anyway.. eventually. :)

Yikes! I can relate to the whole painting nightmare and be glad that I don't have to do it anymore. The last bit of information about the door lock sounds way too creepy. I hope it was a keyed lock so at least maybe the parents let the daughters lock their own doors to keep out a snoopy sibling.

Nope, no keyed lock.. just the push button type. I have two rational, non-creepy solutions, so I'm hoping that one of them is the truth. It could either be a screw-up in installing the knob (not totally unlikely, judging from their other projects) or maybe they were trying to prevent one of them from locking herself in her room. Then again, the story goes that the church bought the house originally to get the people who lived in it out, as they didn't want them across the street from the church, so who knows. They couldn't have been terribly nice people.. but I'm pretending that it was an anti-lock-in measure.

Actually.... yeah, we had a good time. :) For the most part, anyway. It only sucked for a little while yesterday, which is an excellent status report for three days of work!
