I am done with teh internets. Or at least, I am done with teh internets for right now. We have homemade pizza in the oven and we're planning on watching a movie afterwards, but right now is all about the waiting. One of my least favorite things in the world is waiting on something like this, when I don't have anything in particular to do and I don't really have time to get into anything else, either. One of the main things I hate waiting on is company who I know should be here anytime. Enhancing that feeling when company is coming is usually that I don't want to get anything started, even if I knew what, because I don't want to make a mess in my clean-for-company house. I know. I have issues.
We were scheduled to visit with friends tonight, but it fell through. It wasn't all that surprising to me because they're in the middle of a gigantic kitchen remodel, and she had said, when we originally made the plans, that they were supposed to get their cabinets delivered yesterday. And I thought.. wow! I don't think I'd be wanting to go out to dinner when I had that much going on! And in fact, she confessed that she wasn't sure what she had been thinking, so we're on for next week instead. I can't imagine how exciting it would be to have a brand new custom kitchen, especially after living without one for so long.
M and I had a bit of a revelation this afternoon and it was such a duh! moment. You know what? It doesn't take all that long to clean! As a matter of fact, we cleaned the whole darned house in the same amount of time it took to run one load of laundry in the washer! That even included some non-standard cleaning tasks, such as ironing one of my shirts and doing dishes. Which is technically cleaning, but it shouldn't count because it's also a maintenance task. We tend to be a little lazy with the whole cleaning thing but it's so nice to walk through a house smelling of Lysol and Pledge, with faint undertones of bleach. As I said... duh.
---
Pizza eaten, movie watched, crafting done.. for the evening. I am actually cross-stitching at the moment, which is something I really haven't done much of for about four years. It's something fun and silly and I won't talk about it anymore because I don't want to spoil the silly. I'm not enjoying it much, though, because the fabric is cheap and stiff and black, and it's hard to see what I'm doing and where the needle should go. It's getting colder, though, and I have a number of crafty projects in mind, and my fingers are aching to tat again--but I want to finish this first, so I am trying to remain dedicated. I haven't done much crafting at all in months. I burned myself out with snowflakes last year, I think. I would like to make a bunch more snowflakes and put on my tree, and also give one to everyone at Christmas, but I am just not motivated enough to do it. Crafting is always best in the winter, for some reason.
Nice weekend. :)

Date: 2006-10-22 05:44 am (UTC)Yay for speedy cleaning!! I like to think (wrongly I'm sure) that I am the world's most efficient house cleaner - I think i could go in the world championship speed house cleaning competition (along with the world champion reverse parking competition) and have a chance. As long as they didn't check for dust afterwards.......
