M and I managed to make it home from the big family deal tonight by eight o'clock! This is a major accomplishment because lately, my parents have been pushing the limits of how late we stay. We've been eating dinner with them before we leave town, and (little known fact) my mom is the Slowest Eater in the World. Tonight, they were having a family Halloween party, mostly for the kiddies, so we decided to skip that. I'm sure there will be fussing about that decision but.. oh well. It almost feels a bit strange to have all this time before bed (half an hour more!) when usually I have been asleep in the car for 45 minutes already.

Tomorrow is my scheduled day off, and I ended up taking Friday off due to not feeling well, so I am in the midst of a four-day weekend. We have done very little but lay around the house, except for today, but that in itself is pretty nice. Yesterday, I pestered M into playing with me all day long. We worked on a puzzle and cooked two meals together and played a game and watched television and napped the afternoon away and then cross-stitched on the couch together after dinner. Very, very nice. We were going to go buy a pumpkin or two and carve them, but we lost steam on that one. We drove down to the produce market down the road and they didn't have any outside, so we gave up and went home.. assuming they didn't have them inside. Sounds kind of dumb when I put it that way, but we looked for them at Kroger last week and didn't see any, and I had heard something about a pumpkin shortage or something this year. And being the generous soul that I am, I remarked that it was just as well that we not get a pumpkin if there is a shortage, and better that someone with kids get ours. But, that made M cry because you know, HE is just a kid. And btw, you do know that I make shit up, right? He did pretend to look very sad, at least.

You know you routinely make him bawl like a baby, why hide it? ;-)

We're happy we have the kids as an excuse to carve some this year. I heard the shortage was more on the east coast but perhaps you guys might be hit too.

It's bad for my image. I like people to think I am nice! ;)

There were plenty of pumpkins in my hometown, but we sure didn't find any here. I'm glad you all got to have pumpkin carving joy, at least!
