The Election (or: everyone else is writing about it)

I have been on my way to bed for an hour now, but I just thought of something else that I wanted to say. Two years ago, I wrote about the 2004 presidential election. That's one of my favorite posts, because I think I managed to say exactly what I wanted to say.

Two years ago, they smirked and said that the Democrats had (as I put it in that post) laid the groundwork for a cultural phenomenon that will eliminate them from ever being a governing party.

Just two years ago. They said that the immorality of the Democratic party would keep them from ever being in power again. And this week? It's funny, because they proved their forecasting ability is almost as good as their ability to govern effectively!

See, here's the thing. I am not a politician, so maybe that's why I can occasionally see the forest for the trees on matters such as this. Check it out. If you fuck up so badly, and so often, that you make yourself, your entire political party, your allies and your employees an international laughingstock, and you get several thousand of America's finest killed in a war that you entered in under false pretenses while you're at it, and you take the country from a surplus budget to the largest deficit in history and you are actually not even able to string a successful sentence together....

It really doesn't take much to get your asses voted out with style.
