pre-ultrasound posting.

I have been looking forward to tomorrow for weeks, and months, and also years--ultrasound day! It's not until afternoon, so I still have a while to wait. All of our other appointments have been early in the morning, as this one would have been, but I wanted to schedule it so it would be more convenient for my mom to come. I'm assuming they won't complain about her coming with us. They didn't give me any particular directions at all, actually--nothing about a full bladder or what kind of recording media i can bring. M says I should call in the morning and ask them, but I really hate calling people. After our first visit there, the couple in line in front of us were getting the whole thing so I have a vague memory of hearing it before. I have so far liked all of the doctors that I've seen at this clinic, but it does seem to me that they're a bit disorganized at the front desk. They didn't give me the phone number and code to access my blood test results the first time, and then they didn't tell me anything about this (when clearly they were supposed to--since they did it for another couple.)
Ducky has learned a new trick. Yesterday, s/he began kicking me in what I think is my cervix. As I have never had anyone kicking my cervix before, I can't be sure that's what the child is doing, but it feels like it. There's a definite jolt in that area, and then it feels almost like it vibrates afterwards. Earlier today, I sort of shook my belly around, which was enough to make him stop. When I told M that s/he was doing it, he laughed and said, "You're saying that she's already misbehaving? And that your solution was to SHAKE her?" Well, I wouldn't have put it quite like that. :p
That's about the extent of all that is new in my world. Note how I am not mentioning any sort of worry over what the ultrasound will reveal other than the anticipated boy/girl question. It's not that I haven't pondered the matter, of course, but I don't want to beat a dead horse on the whole worry thing.
Speaking of metaphors involving large barnyard animals, I just informed M that there is more than one way to whip a cow. I have no earthly idea what that's supposed to mean, or in fact, why one would want to whip a cow. There are cows just by the tiny road I drive to work on, and they are cute and sometimes we moo at them, so I don't want to find multiple ways to whip the poor things.
