Baby: definitely head down. Yay! Pretty high up, though.. not dropped. Anyone who sees me could tell me that, though. Heartbeat good, but humorous. Apparently. He chuckled, anyway. I love it when the doctors still love the nice parts.

Me: Not dilated. Yay! Normal blood pressure, presumably no protein (as he didn't mention it). Measuring at least good enough to not warrant commentary.

Tests: Group B strep test today--results next Monday at my next appointment. No need for weekly cervical exams unless I just want them. As I told the doctor, it really didn't do anything for me so I'd just as soon not. (I always wondered why people said that they hurt. Mainly, because they hurt. Huh.) I am glad that I had one today because it gives me a baseline that nothing has happened yet.

If I go into labor now, they won't try to stop it.

Also, has anyone ever gotten kicked out of obstetrics school for having short, stubby fingers? These are the kinds of things I think about at inappropriate moments.

I swear the next time I have a baby (if I ever do), my sole criteria for ob/gyn will be long fingers. I wish my practice would have given me the option to say no to the weekly checks. I don't see what purpose they serve since you could go into labor from 0 to 10 in a day or you could hang at a 3 for a couple of weeks.

Glad to hear everything is going so well for you!

Exactly. It's interesting information, I guess, but since it means so very little... I have been thinking that routinely doing it is worthless. I didn't mind it yesterday but I don't think I need to have it done every week. Also, I'm a bit concerned about the stories of several people who had their membranes swept without consent during a check and I don't particularly want them to do anything like that without me being aware of it, but yet, somehow, asking in advance if they are planning to violate my medical rights without permission makes me feel like a crazy paranoid bitch.

I'm glad that things are going so well, too. See, constant worrying DOES help! :)

p.s. I need to email you passwords and stuff for the update-when-baby-comes thing. I will email myself a reminder to home (I don't want to do it from work) and hopefully I'll remember to get it done before it becomes crucial.

p.s.s. Also. MM time coming up. Blah.
