Welcome to the first of many such posts, I'm guessing, but.. it is such an odd thing to sit around wondering if one is in labor and soon to meet their baby. I'm having pretty strong contractions, averaging three or four minutes apart probably. They even kept going when I got up and walked around and not just when sitting (though they're strongest when sitting with feet propped up, for some reason.) It's been going on for an hour and a half at this pace, but I've had them all evening long without timing them. They said to come in after a couple of hours at that pace. But.. that seems so.. well. Like something is going to happen. I would rather just stay here and maybe we'll just forget the whole thing because this idea of labor is kind of scary. Like, a lot. And they may be slowing down now, so we're still assuming that it's nothing. Agh, the anticipation!

Husband has had a very exciting day, for we took off this morning to his favorite place (Lowe's) and bought a brand-new toy for him--a riding lawn mower. I'm not supposed to post about that because he is a big dork and he says I will ruin his post. Then we had lunch with my parents, and brought the mower home (my parents brought their truck down for both bringing stuff and taking stuff back with them.) After that, my parents left, and M couldn't mow because of the rain, so we went off to have birthday celebration shopping, where I bought a pile of books for my birthday. Yay! The energy didn't last too long before we had to come home but we still had a nice time. Then we had a Name-That-Baby meeting to discuss again what we want to name Ducky. All in all, a nice way to begin being 28.

But why we're listening to Christmas music, I have no idea.

Congratulation on being in the first stages of labour. :-) I never had time to wonder, since the first thing that happened was that my water broke and I was having contractions 1 minute apart a quarter of an hour later. O.o

Good luck. Labour is intense, but it's over before you know it... and that birth-amnesia they talk about? The thing that makes you forget the pain? I never believed how potent it was until I experienced it. Seriously... 5 minutes after Rhys was born, the pain I'd been in was a foggy memory. Of course, until Frazer gains some of that memory-loss it's going to remain hard to convince him to have a second, but that'll come in time for him.

Thanks. Except that it faded away, and I went to bed instead of the hospital. Can I just apologize in advance for driving you all crazy with the "is it now?" posts? I know it can go on for weeks! I keep hoping my water will just break, as yours did, so I don't have to question it, but so far nothing. Anxious! I even feel almost ready to get this show on the road!

(1) But you were supposed to wait until I got to work so I could call you so I can speak to you once more before you are 'with child' as I don't yet have a mobile phone that can call overseas (without getting called into the boss' office I imagine, anyway)!

(2) Oh my god this is so exciting!!!

(3) OUCH!!!

(4) Oh my god this is so exciting!!

Ohhhhh! Labor! And so early! Well, maybe I'm all excited but nothing happened. Who knows.

But really, Christmas music? Why?

Yeah, nothing happened. *sigh* I know that I'm going to drive you all crazy with this "is it now?" stuff. Sorry. ;) It's pretty hard to think of anything else, though! :)

I have no idea about the Christmas music. My husband is really weird.

You know how in Lamaze class they say that you'll know when the active labor hits and the real contractions come on and you wonder, well, how will I know? You'll know because you wouldn't be able to make a post, you'd only be thinking about getting to the hospital. At least that's how I would describe it.
