I just remembered that I totally forgot to note in my birth story my embarrassing telephone conversation! I talked to [livejournal.com profile] carrieb again the day after Evelyn was born when she called. I should mention that it took a little while for my brain to fully come back to me and for the drugs and exhaustion to fade. I mean, there were times after I got home that I started talking to M and was making no sense whatsoever, and I had no idea until he started giving me that Look. I like to think we carried on a reasonable conversation, but then we started to hang up. That happened to be at the same time as my cousin came in with her daughter, who started talking to me, and the wires in my brain got crossed and I said, "I love you! Bye!" Thankfully, Carrie did not make fun of me or (seem to) get too alarmed about the chick expressing her love on the phone. I can only assume that it is a common occurrence for her. ;) No wonder I am not a big phone person. I am such a dork.

Yesterday had a lot of suck in it, so today felt lovely by comparison. They kept interrupting the television to talk about the severe thunderstorms, and suddenly it turns to a tornado warning for my area. When I say my area, what I mean is that the weather guy said, and I quote, "If you live in the Abracadabra or Bazookum areas, you need to take cover." I live on Bazookum Road, in the Abracadabra area. They are not cities. They are not even suburbs. Abracadabra is a wide spot in the road, or more accurately, a tiny road that splits off of the main road for a while and used to have an elementary school on it. So, to be specifically pointed out by the meteorologist from Lexington.. kind of a reason to actually get up off the couch, for I am now responsible for a little person who can't hide from tornadoes on her own. We do have a basement, and normally, I *might* have taken a book, a flashlight and the phone downstairs and sat in one of M's chairs for a little while, or I might have just sat in front of the TV and thought about how I should probably get up and go take cover. As it was, I had five minutes to throw the baby in the carseat for easy carrying, grab some blankets in case there actually was a Situation, and also to have something to sit on, as well as the diaper bag, etc, and get it all to the basement. Of course, had there actually been a tornado that ripped the house off our basement, we would surely have died from M's tools flying around, but that's neither here nor there. Obviously, my house did not fly away, but it did kind of serve as a sharp reminder of all the ways in which priorities are just a little different than they were last month. Around this time, the headache that had been lingering all day decided to become horrible, so I spent the evening on the couch trying to imagine a way to dig my brain out of my skull without actually killing myself. When I finally went to bed, I slept for half an hour before the baby woke up to eat, and then we were up again from 3:30 to 6:00. That just isn't right, little Miss Crankypants. Her sleep habits have gone a bit downhill, let's just put it that way.

M came home from work a little early today, and we did a little photo shoot in the sunroom. We even woke up the baby, which.. in retrospect.. was probably not so smart since she was then awake for hours. Anyway! M posted some of the pictures. If you're not not LJ-friends with him and therefore won't see his post--click here to see Evelyn pictures. And, if that's not enough, I also have a little video clip to show you. Enjoy!

(Note: hours after getting this ready to post, it's still saying that YouTube is still processing the image and it will be available soon. I've been waiting for it to show up before posting, but I have to go to bed now, so if it's still not there tomorrow, I'll try agan.)
