There's a family reunion tomorrow. On one hand, I really want to go because I have a cute, sweet baby I'd like to show off. On the other hand, it would take us two and a half hours of driving with a baby to get there--so we'd need to leave at 9:30 at the very latest in order to make it there just in time to eat. Plus, the last hour of that is on ridiculously windy, curvy roads, and we're pretty sure that Evelyn gets carsick. Also, I get carsick, and I'm now in the unenviable position of riding in the backseat with the baby, which also means that I take my attention off the road to attend to her, which compounds the problem. I guess I'm leaning towards not going, but I feel such guilt. Of course. Maybe we should.
We met my parents and niece for some shopping today, and we bought Evelyn a Bumbo. That's a little chair-like thing that is designed to let babies sit up before they're actually able to sit up. Oh, she is so cute. SO cute. She still has some issues with holding her head upright for long periods of time, but she liked it.. after she figured out what was going on, anyway.

You can't see it, but her sleeper says that she's is Mommy's girl, and I am so happy to say that she is Mommy's girl these days. Today at lunch, she cried when she was in her seat, when her Granny held her and when M held her, but twice, I took her and she quit crying and snuggled up to me. It is beyond moving to be that person who someone loves and trusts so very much... which is not to say she doesn't like anyone else. I was just happy that sometimes, it's all about Mommy even when Mommy isn't sticking a boob in her face. I know that she'll switch her allegiances a thousand times over by the time she's grown, but it's still sweet to see it happen. To be honest, I think she gets tired of me sometimes. Oh, and I have to confess that for the first time, I actually photoshopped my baby's picture. I feel like a bad parent.
Right now, she's asleep in a diaper that is not rated for overnight in this household, and it's been a while since she ate, but she went down early--it's been a long, busy day for her. Tonight will be fun. On that note, I'd better go to bed while I still can.

Date: 2007-07-29 04:02 am (UTC)Well I thought Linnea would switch over and become Daddy's girl but at 3.5 years old, it still isn't happening. That's not to take away from the relationship between her and Peter but she's definitely closer to me. She'll listen to anyone and is affectionate to everyone in her life . . . it's hard to give you instances. We'll see how E ends up being.
If you guys end up going, I hope you have a lovely time and enjoy all the attention that girl is going to get.
