A picture post
Apr. 7th, 2006 11:46 pmWhen M called me on his way home from work, I bet him $5 that I had a more unusual story to tell from the time since last we had spoken, and I so totally won. One of the guys from the Scandinavian Heritage club that we go to called for M.. which is rather something that has never happened. He wanted to know if M would be interested in being the new vice-president of the club (SHSK.. Scandinavian Heritage Society of Kentucky)... that completely came out of the blue. So, M called him back and they officially, and formally, extended vice-presidential candidacy to him. There's a business meeting tomorrow (we were already planning on going to it) and assuming that no one launches a surprise campaign of their own and vetoes him out of the position, he will be answering only to "Mr. Vice President, sir" tomorrow.
To celebrate his potential new lofty status, we went out for dinner and then spent a fortune on shoes. I have kind of sensitive feet and I hate hate hate wearing shoes that are not perfectly comfortable. I often go into shoe stores and get frustrated and leave. Tonight I bought the first pair that I picked up. What luck!
Anyway, on to the pictures:

Look! Spring! I was taking pictures of something else and had no idea this was there until I almost ran into it. I thought it turned out pretty well.. although I have no idea what it actually is. They're in the front yard, anyway.

I adore these flowers. They're growing around a pretty tree in the corner of the backyard, and you would think we're the first people ever to have flowers, what with how I've been fussing over them. I go look out the kitchen window multiple times per day to see them. I am beginning to see the fixation with gardening, something that has always eluded me before.
Okay, now a few more completely random ones:

We were leaving my grandfather's house last weekend when I saw this and received the explanation that made me laugh and require a picture. My dear, adorable-but-dopey young cousins decided that the hole in this tree obviously needed medical attention. So, they found a beat-up black tarp to serve as a band-aid. Because clearly, the gaping wound needs help. Makes perfect sense. Btw, this tree is the one that we spent most of our time in when we were little.

This would be the back of my car. (It's a Buick Riviera, which accounts for how weird it looks. It's an odd car, but we like it.) I mainly just took the picture so I could show y'all our cute Swedish-American flags sticker. Doesn't it just look like it belongs there?

I have no idea why I'm showing you this except that it is just such an absurd item for M and me to have. We are the opposite of athletic and sportsy. This is in the driveway in front, so it's in an extremely prominent location, too. Would you like to come play basketball with us? Or at least clean the backboard?? It's so dirty that it's almost art. Maybe we can pretend that we believe that and avoid cleaning it. The projects never end...

Date: 2006-04-08 03:30 pm (UTC)Oh and please congrat M for me and tell him I expect to see my favourite icon of him smoking a pipe I think it was (we all know how fucked up my memory is so perhaps he just looked like he was???) as an icon for exciting updates on what happens whilst in the vice presidential seat... of course, he may wish to choose a new icon, but still, I miss that one.

Date: 2006-04-10 02:01 pm (UTC)I passed on the word to M. He was pleased that someone thinks fondly of his pretentious icon. I told him that I would buy him a bandsaw if he posted every day for two weeks but apparently that doesn't work if you use the same bribe for everything from posting to taking out the trash. Hmm. :)
