M likes having a baby because it gives him someone new to instruct about all the important things in life.

(I wish I had started earlier because he had been talking non-stop for at least two or three minutes by then, and for the longest time, she was just staring at him in rapt attention. You should have heard his monthly performance review speech.)

That is too funny.

You know, I never thought I'd say this but E gives B and M a serious run for their money in cuteness. It shits me.

Also, I thought you said M sounded like an American. I could definitely hear some sing-songyness there....

Very, very cute! She is rapt!

(I agree, Kirsty -- I definitely hear an accent there! ;))

Thanks. :)

I think he has less of the classic Swedish accent going on than any of the Swedes I've met, but he does have a particular accent. It's coming on stronger here because he has his "management" voice/rhythm on. Most people in real life can identify that he might not be from around here, but they tend to guess at different regions of the US before they guess that he's a foreigner. I think it's obviously easier for you all to hear the Swedish side, though. :) Also, I hadn't really thought of it until now, but the southern accent has a bit of a sing-songy aspect to it. The whole accent thing is so interesting!

She is terribly cute, isn't she? :)

He does sound like an American.. mostly. People here might guess that he's not from this state but they tend to guess other states. I think it's easier for us to hear the Swedish part since we know what to look for. However, I think there is a bit of a sing-songyness to the southern accent. I hadn't thought about it before now, but it makes it a strangely natural fit. Also, he does sound like that mostly, but it's laid on a bit thicker than usual because he's doing the 'management' voice and tone. Interesting..

M may very well be the silliest man I know. I'm also cracking up at his deep South/Swedish accent.

E is such a little doll. I just want to eat her up. I can't wait to see her!

I also thought it was a funny mix of Swedish and southern but I wasn't sure if that was his usual voice or something special for the camera. Very charming!

I think the accent is emphasized here because he's got his "management" voice on. Most of the time, people really can't tell that he's not local. He does have a southern/swedish thing going on, in general... but you guys are (almost) the only ones who can identify it as Swedish. :)

He is very, very silly. It occurs to me that southern American English has a bit of sing-songyness to it. It's a natural fit! ;)

E is looking forward to meeting you guys too! :)

You have no idea how odd it is to hear his voice after sooooo long. Wow. And yet, strangely familiar, in a "talking to a baby" sort of way. Hmmmm.
