A year in review: 2007 by month
Jan. 1st, 2008 01:09 amJanuary: I was about five months pregnant in January when we found out that we were having a baby GIRL. Much work was going on with the house as we prepared for adding a new member to the household.
February: I got sick, and then the baby and I managed to break a rib. Ouch! This proved to be the hands down worst part of pregnancy for me. I still really cannot believe she broke my rib. By the way, it still aches. We also attended a day-long childbirth class, hosted by a personable nurse who was working the day I was discharged. I liked her very much. I also started sewing.
March: We tossed around names for the baby and ended up at L&D at 30 weeks (false alarm). I sewed a lot of stuff for the baby, mostly wipes and burp cloths which barely got used.
April: We had a couple of baby showers, which was great fun. I was yelled at in a restaurant for complaining about the wait and offered a job if I thought I could do better. We took a day to run errands, and we chose a daycare. We had company over a couple of times and I made lots and lots of lists and plans.
May: I turned 28 on May 4, and that was my last real day of work before being ordered to stay home for the duration of my pregnancy because of my blood pressure. I went into labor on May 11, and one major abdominal surgery later, Evelyn Linnea was born on May 12. Also in May, we bought a riding lawn mower.
June: Life was all about the baby. We had people coming by to see her and I was getting in the swing of things. I sewed my first cloth diaper. M went to the dentist. There were several doctor appointments for me and Evelyn both.
July: M had four wisdom teeth removed, and a week of vacation. M and I had a date night all by ourselves while my mom watched the baby. Evelyn started singing along with us and I spent three entire weeks doing nothing but singing the Sylvia and Mickey song from Dirty Dancing.
August: I quit my job! That was great. But then my grandmother died, and the day after her funeral, my cousin fell off a 30-foot roof and was seriously injured. He turned out okay, but scared us all. (He is walking now, by the way, and getting around fine.) I also had a terrible itchy rash that refused to go away, prompting an allergist visit.
September: I went in for one final day of work. M's parents came for a visit. We did a lot of touristy stuff and we visited with my camping family. There was a metric assload of cleaning done.
October: I sewed a mei tai. Evelyn experienced her first Halloween, complete with trick or treating. (She was a baby duck, of course.) We bought a car. M got promoted.
November: M submitted his book to a publisher. Carrie, Mike and Erik came to visit. Thanksgiving came and went and sucked mightily. We fed Evelyn her first solid food--she was underwhelmed.
December: Baby's first Christmas was a success--she had no clue what was going on but she thought it was mostly fun. There was a lot of shopping done. M narrated the SHSK Lucia festival again. And most importantly, we bought ourselves a Wii!
