ebates, coupons and more (literally)

You know, I've never really pimped anything in my own self-interest, but if you sign up for Ebates using this link, you'll get $10. I've been a member of Ebates for years and years and I've never tried to get anyone to sign up, but they really do send you money from shopping online, and if you want to sign up you may as well do it when you can give us both more free money. Lots of stores have accounts there. I have even clicked through to order pictures from Walmart.. it was actually an accident the first time or I would never have thought to do it. I think I got twelve cents from it or something like that. Hehe.

Here's another online shopping tip that may be obvious, but I know that lots of people don't do this. Next time you check out somewhere and they ask you if you have a coupon code? Go type the site and "coupon codes" into a search engine. You'll often find something. Godaddy in particular always has coupon codes floating around, so I have started manually renewing my domain names to save money on them. (They're set to auto-renew in case I forget.) Just now, I bought something online and couldn't get any discounts, but I did get a free soap gift package added to my order. Which.. hey, it's free. Free is good.

In other news, my baby is swell. Did you know that an infant signing "more" is just about the cutest thing in the world? It really is too bad that she mainly does it when Barney goes off. *sigh* At least she's cute. Oh, and she says "more" too. Well. She says more if it is pronounced "whffooofff" or occasionally "oooma"--those are the sound effects to the more sign, apparently. She also said "baby" today, and I do believe that she meant to, as they were saying baby on the Baby Einstein signing video just then--I couldn't handle another run of Barney so we switched--but I also think it was a total fluke that she actually got it right when she tried to imitate them.

Oh, and I had my very first ever banana split tonight. It was pretty good! A healthy dessert! Shut up. Fruits are healthy and so is ice cream.

I have gotten a lot more money from MyPoints than ebates. I love it.

We have Baby Einstein My First Signs. Sadly, she's bored with it so we'll be getting her something else soon probably. Barney is killing me* so I need her to watch something else. This Baby Einstein DVD is quite pleasant so I like it when she watches it. Anyway. More is the only one she seems to have really gotten enough to use, but she will move her hands around when she watches it like she's trying to do them, and she has done Daddy before. That was the first thing she did and it was just so cool because I looked over and saw her with her hand up on her head and then checked the TV to see if they by chance were doing Daddy just then and they were. :) It's so hard to believe that there's a person in there that wants to communicate with us. It's so cool!

*You know, it's actually not as bad as I remember it. My niece and young cousins watched it a lot ten years or so, and everyone knows Barney sucks and it was awful, etc, but I am watching it now and thinking that it really doesn't deserve quite the bad rep it has. It teaches imagination (since Barney isn't real) and generally nice principles of life.. if a bit hokey. But! Those songs get stuck in my head like crazy. They will not go away. It is so hard to go about your day hearing Barney singing to you in the background about everything... ;)

I don't like the Baby Einstein First Signs DVD. It just doesn't make as good a connection with the signs and the things as the other signing dvds. Do you guys have a decent library? I haven't watched the Signing Times dvds but I hear rave reviews of them. Assuming, of course, you are showing it for the sign language and not just because you have it.

Barney is soooooooooooo annoying. I never saw it when I was younger and everyone was hating on it since I didn't know any little kids. The acting is just so over the top! Ugh. As you know, we were more into the Wiggles at that age. YOu want us to send you that one DVD with the Wiggles puppets? Mwhahahaha!

I noticed that Baby Einstein didn't seem to have that strong a connection to the words. It's kind of a combo--she's been watching it because we have it, but I had wanted her to learn some signs, too. My mom bought it for her for Christmas. (She didn't even notice it was a sign language one.. haha.) I am planning on getting some more for her as soon as I get off my lazy tush and do it. :) It is SO cute.

Oh, and you're right. The kids are terrible actors. Really, though, all of the kids shows seem to be terrible so I guess if it wasn't one thing it'd be another. At least there are none of those creepy puppets in Barney! ;)
