silly baby eating shoes

Look, my Nike-affiliated folk! She is all decked out with new little white Nikes! M asked me once, "Who raised you, NIKE?" in the midst of a discussion on name brands, and it was one of those lines that has stuck with us and been re-used a hundred different times. I'm sure he loves it that his daughter is now also being raised by Nike. (Shh, don't tell, but I only paid $11 for them at Kohl's.) We were on our way to the playground and we were having a fun time in the backseat.

I would also like to take this opportunity to tell you that my child loves shoes, hats and pants. In that order. When I was at lunch with my work friends this week, she wore a little sunhat for almost the entire time. Actually, when she took it off, it was because I asked her if she wanted to give it to Mommy, and she did. I only gave her that hat to play with in the car on the way there. She used to rip everything off her head, but she decided that hats are awesome and now she gets excited when she can wear one. That's why she's wearing a frilly white hat with a non-frilly outfit. Shoes are her first love, though. When we ask her if she wants to go byebye, she will jump up and run to the door, yelling SHOOOOOES! She doesn't really care if we go somewhere, just as long as she can wear shoes. Weirdo kid.

Also, I have been sitting here frantically typing and sorting papers and emailing and creating a shopping list and doing paperwork for two hours now. She's been staying up later than usual lately and I'm behind in my computery tasks. I hear her waking up now but can I just say that this has been freaking awesome? I'm still nowhere near done but I'm making a dent and that feels fantastic right about now. :) Better go get her now..

Ha, ha! That picture brought back a memory of my son when he was just a bit older. I had bought him some new sandals - VERY expensive, good quality leather sandals. He had made a fuss in the shop as he wanted some ghastly plastic sandals, but I'd over-ruled him. About a week later, I had taken the children to a local wildlife park in the hills near home. When we got there, my daughter was sitting in her child seat with a shocked look on her face and my son was looking smugly defiant and shoeless. Apparently he had taken off his sandals one at a time and thrown them out of the slightly open rear window! Somewhere on the 10 km drive through the windy hills.

I'm glad to see she has a shoe fetish. A lifetime of joyful comfort shopping awaits her. :)
