Dude, I just got email from Austin Powers! Awesome! :) I have this feeling he wants to sell me something to enlarge my penis. A pump, perhaps.

For [livejournal.com profile] grain_damaged - 50 Things to Do With Your Kids Before They Grow Up [in Portland]. You may have already seen this, or have already done everything on the list, but at least I was thinking of you when I saw it!

I mentioned that I am returning to XP and so this week has largely consisted of reinstallation and assorted tasks. When I went to the Opera site to download it, Internet Explorer balked. I know that this is geeky but it made me laugh. The image is kind of wide (I didn't want to reize it and make it hard to read) so I'll put this part behind a cut.

for your security, IE has blocked this download. YOU'RE WELCOME.

THANK YOU for being so super-concerned with my security, Internet Explorer! And not at all self-serving! Yay Microsoft!

Did you know that it is kind of nice to live in a house that is mostly neat and clean? I KNOW. It is a complete shocker. We don't live in a dirty house normally, but we are very guilty of just letting clutter pile up and turning a blind eye to it. Like, one of E's largeish toys sat on the kitchen counter for about three months last year. On the flip side, we will clean this place to an inch of its life when someone is coming over. We sometimes get it so clean that we are kind of afraid to actually live here. I love it when it's like that but it never lasts. Recently, though, it has begun to chafe at me that we will go to the effort for other people, but not ourselves. Does that make sense? WE Are the ones who live here! So instead of whining about it in my journal, I did something completely unique: I started like, cleaning my house more. Guess what! It works! I'm not completely done with all the areas that have been neglected, but I'm getting there, and it mostly looks pretty good now. Even the prospect of having potential company next week doesn't stress me out because... there isn't that much that needs to be done. It's fantastic! And it's kind of enjoyable, in a weird sort of way, to organize your house. I am sure this phase won't last but I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

Also, blowpops are not nearly as fantastic as I thought they were when I was a kid. But it seems such a waste to throw it away..

Hey! THANKS! That's a pretty cool list. I hadn't seen it before. We've done a few of those but not even half (some Sophie's too little for still). I think I'll put it in my journal and see if I can get to all of them over the years. Sweet! Thanks for thinking of us. ::warm fuzzies::

It's easier to keep up on the cleaning if you don't let it go. I try to do 20 minutes a room on Mon and Thur - that way it stays pretty clean. I try to pick up during the rest of the week too but if it doesn't happen I know at least I've got four hours dedicated to it a week. Which in the overall scheme of things isn't much. ;^) Hope your trend lasts - it's nice to have a sparkly house!

I'm glad you may get some use out of it. There isn't that many fun kid things to do around here so clearly we need to go try out the Portland list sometime! :)
