It has been a long weekend, and I would be super tired if I had not had a Pepsi splurge after putting the baby to bed. I have finally gotten old enough that caffeine in the evening makes me want to not go to sleep. (It doesn't generally keep me awake, exactly, but it makes it a little harder to sleep and it certainly makes me feel like I don't want to go sleep anymore. Sleeping is something that I am quite good at, which I think drives my occasional-insomniac husband insane.)

We re-decided at almost noon on Friday that we would have a yard sale at my parents house this weekend. We had been talking about it for a few weeks, but had decided against it, in large part because we didn't really know if my parents were that into the idea, and also, it was a lot of work. I spent all day Friday packing up my free(ish) stuff and our stuff for the weekend, and we went up to spend the night on Friday so we'd be there early enough (six! ack!) on Saturday. I wrote more about it here but the short version is that we did very well! I sold $333 worth of stuff that I've been bringing home for free, profit or almost free. It was great! And Evelyn behaved herself (she had a blast, actually) and the weather was nice and there weren't too many lulls in activity to make the day boring. Yay for success! And cash. We're really looking forward to doing it again. I just need to buy more stuff because they pretty much decimated my stock. I still have enough for the beginnings of a sale but not a whole lot.

So.. it was really good. Family time today. Evelyn does not usually nap when we're away and she also stayed up way past her bedtime on Friday, so she was kind of cranky this evening on the two hour ride home. Man, I hate that two-hour trip from my grandfather's. We assumed she'd fall asleep but she didn't, which was good because we've had a great evening of relaxation after she fell asleep, and I sure didn't have to fight her over it this time..

Oh!! I forgot to mention that my husband is wonderful, and not just because he went and bought me a laptop. :) He had been thinking about it even before my last post about how it had died. It hasn't arrived yet but I am super excited about it. :) Yay for M! He is actually selling something to justify its purchase. Isn't that cute? The expense itself we could handle, but I would have felt too guilty to enjoy it. Much. Also, he is sweet because he did my part of the dishes for me at my grandfather's house today, and because he brought me a cup of special crushed ice for my not-quite-cold bottled water just now. He has been talking a lot about a new pet project (building himself a hot rod*) lately so maybe he's hoping I will jump on board if he's really extra nice to me. (I won't.) Or, maybe I am just really, really lucky.

*Look, I am a huge fan of DIY. I love making things from scratch that other people would buy in a store. It has more personality, more character! However, I am still firmly of the opinion that there are some things that you should just go ahead and let someone else create for you. A CAR IS ONE OF THOSE THINGS. Sorry, love. ;)

Oh hai! You got a new lap top - awesome!
I also think my hubby would entirely disagree with your views on building cars. He lubs them. Sicko. lol
Has M ever *tried* to build a car? Cause you could let him try - it's frustrating as all get out - he might give up. ;^)

I know! It is awesome! Or it will be once it arrives. If it ever arrives. *impatient* :)

M has not tried to build a vehicle from scratch, but he used to be pretty into the veteran car scene before he moved. The problem is that I have too much faith in him, I guess, because this is also the guy who announced, out of the blue, that he was going to start building mandolins. Everyone was all skeptical, and we all KNEW it was never going to happen because it was going to be a lot harder than it looked and he had no noticeable luthier skills, but he did it anyway, and has built.. I dunno. Half a dozen, by now, and a guitar, and repaired a few broken ones for other people along the way. ;) And worse yet, he has people lined up for this project for any of the parts that he's not that great with. So, in summary: he does not give up, and he has some people who have offered to help. Therefore, I would be hearing about this car project, and paying for this car project, for YEARS. hehehe.

It's safer by far to be unenthusiastic at the beginning and hope the energy wears off before he gets going on it. ;)

ah yes... one of those lol! (Sounds vaguely familiar) ;)
Well, then yes. If you don't want him to spend loads of $$ on cars you'd best keep him reigned in while you can. On the other hand if he can fund it himself somehow...??
