I'm a happy girl now because I just threw a dinner together out of the freezer and pantry that nearly made Magnus weep for joy. If he'd been hungrier, he might have. ;) I love it when I make up meals that work. This is probably because I had absolutely no desire to cook until a year and a half ago or so, and therefore, everything is all still fun and new. Tonight it was scallops in a garlic butter herby sauce with rosemary and chives, served with pasta. It also made me realize that not only had I never cooked scallops before--actually, I've only tried them at Red Lobster, stolen one per visit off Magnus's plate--I've actually never cooked anything seafood, either. Fish sticks don't count. :p We had real fish one night, but Magnus cooked it. I was a little stunned when I thought of it that way. I don't know why it startled me so.. as a rule, I dislike seafood so why the heck would I want to cook it?

I bet dinner is statistically one of the main topics of conversation on online journals. It feels silly to write about such trivialities sometimes, but then again, it's all the small things that you kinda want to remember. Besides, I'm typically forced to leave artsy, coherent entries to those who can do it better than me. (Like Mrs. Roboto and Tequila Mockingbird, links both stolen from Carrie, who also falls under the artsy category.) Or at least until I have consistently interesting things to discuss.

In any event, the dinner was not the only small thing to make me smile. I also received the first mail from the thread exchange. I received a so-far undetermined length of Altin Basak Simli in a sparkly blue-silver combo, sent from Oklahoma. I'm dying to tat something with it, but haven't decided quite what yet.. that will be my project of the night, perhaps. There was an itty bitty tatted butterfly flying on a card with drawn flowers and a packet of raspberry tea. I have this sinking feeling that this exchange will have hooked me irrevocably on exchanges. ;) It was so much fun to open! There should be four more envelopes arriving this week. I need to get mine in the mail soon, as well.

Random information of the day: The second interview for M's possible new job is scheduled now for Wednesday morning. We received a job application yesterday from a graphic designer. My grandfather has decided he's going home tomorrow--we'll see if he can outstubborn my mother pretty soon, I suspect.

I never really liked seafood because it smells so horrible when it's cooking, in my opinion. BLEH! That, and I actually watched my grandfather clean fish once and it made me cry and beg him to let me keep the other fish instead of him killing them. @_@ I'm such a sap, lol. Good luck to M on his interview Wednesday!! *hughugs*

Yeah, exactly. I can eat a limited amount of seafood products, but I get extremely grossed out about some things, especially if I think on it too long. Or if the texture is .. icky. New studies indicate that fish can't actually feel pain, though, just survival instincts, which I thought was interesting. Still looks gross. :) Thanks for the good luck wishes on the interview, we're keeping our fingers crossed! :)
