Sunday night

I'm having an unbelievably good hair day. It's straight, smooth and silky, yet slightly tousled at the ends.. just below my bra line. It's celebrity hair that no real person ever gets. And dammit, why does it always do this to me just as I start thinking about getting it cut?! It's also quite annoying, as it looks this way because I blew dry it straight this morning. I hate doing that because it's a giant pain in the rear (I hate drying my hair as it is, and anything that makes it take longer is not good for me) and is really hard to even accomplish since it's long and hard to reach.
We went to Papaw's house and had a reallly good afternoon. The weather is unbelievable.. at a rough average, it was about 75 F. We've had a suckier than average winter, so this has been beyond nice. Anyway, not the point. Or, not completely. Rae and I walked down to the creek and sat on the rocks and talked for quite some time. Magnus joined us for a while before we had to go back up.. giant spider. :) We've made plans to have lunch on Wednesday.
We were talking about how we used to sneak down to the creek to play when we were kids. We really weren't allowed, of course, but they never could keep us away. We would come back up at the end of the day.. or whenever they would think we'd be gone too long (we thought they didn't notice we were gone, but they weren't quite as stupid as we thought..) dripping wet or with soggy shoes or with a bucket of crawfish.. not that anyone would notice where we'd been, of course. :) We had so much fun. Our other favorite pasttime was playing under the back porch.. it's open, with a dirt floor. Man, we got dirty, but it was so worth it. It seems that a lot of kids now have absolutely no imagination.. most of the fun we had was without any toys at all. It's sad, really.
Tomorrow is Whitley's birthday (my niece). I cannot believe she's eight years old already. I'm trying not to think on it too much, though.. her birthday invariably makes me sad. Eight is closer to ten than five..
