Tuesday evening
Mar. 18th, 2003 05:35 pmMy basil is beginning to pop up over the soil. Tiny little buds, all over the top of the "pot". It's so incredibly pretty.. I would take pictures, but the "pot" that I'm referring to is actually an extremely ugly, oversized butter bowl, hence ruining any pictures I would take. :) I'm inordinately pleased with this, because I don't exactly have a green thumb. No, what I have is much worse for plants.. disinterest. I like flowers and plants, but I want nothing to do with their care and maintenance most of the time. It really frustrates my mother, who wants me to plant stuff all the time. And if it frustrates her, it would probably horrify Magnus's mom. She's very into pretty plants. :)
I'm listening to Swedish news radio today so I can feel like I'm studying. ;) We haven't done well at all with Swedish lessons lately. Hoping that even when I don't understand what's being said, something will soak in. At the very least, it's background noise. And every now and then George Bush pipes in in English, so I know they're talking about the war, at least..

På Svenska :)
Date: 2003-03-18 02:44 pm (UTC)Hey, I was wondering, would you like to be "penpals" to practice Swedish back in forth? It could be very low-key, in fact, I'd have to wait until two more key wedding decisions are done (caterer and bakery). But in a week or two, I'd love to have someone to write to in Swedish that is also learning :)
Let me know what you think of this idea (and "No, thanks" is a perfectly acceptable response and my feelings will NOT be hurt -- it just hit me as a possibly fun way to practice together when I read your entry :)
Re: plants and all -- I know what you mean -- any house plant that survives me is inherently low maintenance :) My mom and sister are the big plant/garden people in my family though last year I finally did a vegetable garden. I'll tell you, there is NOTHING as wonderful as picking and eating cherry tomatos when they're still warmed by the sun :) I can't wait to grow those again :)
